I dont know why im just now hearing about this, but my brother inlaw said we are supposed to register any simi auto rifles with the state now?

I have a Mini 14 that was given to me and also a 10/22. So now I'll need to register them?

It depends on what "features" your two guns have.

It's not about "just losing your guns"...it's the felony part that is the big problem...

Yeah..it sucks but do it if required for your rifles. You don't want any legal issues with custody/support things you have going on.

Must register unless u go featureless. I think ur good on that 1 but double check. I know with my AR i didnt have to register(for this new BS) as i went feautureles. I dont understand the stupidity tho. Now i have a normal mag release instead of a BB but that made the AR safer? Its all non sense

Your Mini-14 is completely legal. And just as lethal as any other 556. But it doesn't have any of the "evil features" so therefore it's aok with the lunatics running the asylum out here.

This is a bad idea. The only gun shops i trust to get information from is owner/opperators of kitchen table gun shops, they have so much skin in the game that they know their shit, vs some guy that likes to pew pew pew his guns and gets a job at a shop.

Calguns.net is where i get my info.

    See CA Penal Code 30515.
    https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/codes_displaySection.xhtml?lawCode=PEN&sectionNum=30515.

    (a) Notwithstanding Section 30510, “assault weapon” also means any of the following:

    (1) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that does not have a fixed magazine but has any one of the following:

    (A) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon.

    (B) A thumbhole stock.

    (C) A folding or telescoping stock.

    (D) A grenade launcher or flare launcher.

    (E) A flash suppressor.

    (F) A forward pistol grip.

You can make a featureless rifle for way cheaper.....about $20
    Featureless grip - $9
    AR Stock Stop - $5
Thread protector for muzzle device - $5

I wasn't talking about big box stores that sell firearms. I go to two local gun shops near me. One owner. Know their shit. Gunsmiths by trade. That's what I was referring to by local gun shop. A great idea.

    This just in....
"The California Department of Justice withdrew a regulation Wednesday evening requiring California firearm owners to register so-called “assault weapons” following a lawsuit filed by a group of gun rights advocacy organizations including Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC), Firearms Policy Foundation (FPF), Second Amendment Foundation (SAF), The Calguns Foundation (CGF) and California Association of Federal Firearms Licensees (CAL-FFL).

“The DOJ’s proposed rule making in this case was a smoke-screen to cover their tracks and other prior unlawful regulatory actions,” said FPC President Brandon Combs in a statement. “While we are pleased that our opposition efforts were ultimately successful here, we know that Attorney General Becerra is relentless in his attacks on law-abiding gun owners and their Second Amendment rights. FPC will continue to defend the people of California and our Constitution from his DOJ’s abusive executive actions.”

The lawsuit was filed, SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb said in a previous statement, because of California DOJ’s Firearms Application Reporting System (CFARS) breaking down during the deadline week for people to register their firearms in accordance with new state laws."

Looks like y'all are safe to exercise your enumerated 2A rights again....for the moment.

I wouldn’t register shit no matter what those kooks enact as state law. No way the federal government will allow that to stand. Everyone can smoke dope but you are going on a blacklist if you have a folding stock on a firearm. Piss off.

    Exactly
I don't want my guns known to the shady government.

I'm kinda in the country where no one goes. If someone does manage to break in my dog will handle it while my California legal registered 40cal will do the rest if needed.
My mini 14 and all my other toys won't even need to come out. Unless its a swarm of zombies then I have more then enough here to take care of that for weeks.

If the SCotUS never accepts a lawsuit re: the state law, the state law will be in full effect. Search "how many gun lawsuits are awaiting scotus" and start counting up how many are simply not being accepted to the SCotUS. Why would a state stop infringing on it's citizen's enumerated rights when the government is complicit in the infringement?

Hopefully after this next appointment the court will start doing its job following the constitution vs people’s feelings. I’m keeping my fingers crossed anyway.
