Hi all, this is my first post I hope it’s a good one for anybody who cares to read it took 2018 CM 4 x 4 to dealer this morning because of the issue with the clunking noise they had the master tech come out to speak with me he took a ride with me in the truck says he’s never heard about this issue,He heard the clunk at 6mph. He suggested we took a ride in another 2018 4 x 4 and it did the same . He opened up a ticket and I am going to go next Friday so he can talk to Toyota while the vehicle is there. For me it’s a matter of documentation that Toyota has in writing that this is normal .

Can someone tell me where in my owners manual or where on a Toyota website it says that this noise is normal.

The tech should have known this. ABS System Check.

Well known issue, just new to you. It's the ABS self check.

Drive every truck on the lot, they all do it.

Wow, great timing. I noticed it the first time today pulling off from a red light. I'm in a 2018 2X4 CM.

Heard the clunk in my new Tundra, picked up first of August. Stumbled on that thread here. Told them at Toyota dealer it was the ABS self check. They never heard of it! . Only happens when first started up and within first 100 feet I'd say.

My 18 does it and my previous 14 had the same noise. Only once and within 5 seconds of my drive starting

Yup, it’s normal. Give it a month or two and you won’t notice it anymore.

If it really bothers you, change the timing of your automated door locks. They will lock around the same time and you won’t notice it.

I have a young child with another on the way so I kept my locks set to lock when shifted into drive. Regardless, I’ve had the truck about 6 months now and I never notice it anymore.

Congrats on the new truck and welcome from San Diego
