    Hi all,

running into an issue while installing a set of Fox coil-over IFP shocks I purchased off craigslist on my 15' Tundra. Part # 883-02-021

The OEM bolt that attaches the shock to the LCA will not pass through the heim joint on the shock, because they are the same diameter.

I've contacted FOX and am waiting to hear back from them regarding a potential heim joint replacement or what their best course of action is.

I'm wondering if it's OK to get a smaller bolt that will pass through the heim joint and attach to the LCA or if that will be too dangerous as it will give potential for some play in the LCA.

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

They come with a bolt, stock doesn’t work. There are also 2 spacers per side for each bolt that you need.

Ok. Thanks for the info. I figured that might be the case. I got the spacers, but not the bolts when I purchased them. Any idea what the specs are on the bolt that come with the shocks?

It may be better to just order the bolt from Fox. Or bring your stock bolt and either the shock or spacers with you to the hardware store. Get the proper length bolt with the proper shoulder length on it. Unsure of what grade to get. I would imagine grade 8 would be sufficient.

Grade 8 5/8” x 8” total length bolt with grade 8 washers both sides and a nylock nut. Here are pics of mine for reference.

Nice! That should help him with the proper spaceer placement.

Solid! Thank you for that. Do you use the small spacer on the inside of the shock? I wasn't sure if I should only use the larger spacer on the outside as shown or to use both the small and the large for install.

    Appreciate the pictures and input.

Some Mods :) See build thread for details
Both should be used. Not sure on orientation but looking at the pics of the other install the short is to the inside

Big spacer on the front side, small on the back. Here are Fox directions.

I have 1/2” of the bolt showing with 5 1/2 threads so it would be 5/8-11.

Here is a picture of the bolt for reference. 8” is the total length of the bolt, so it would be called a 7 1/2” bolt if I’m not mistaken.

Thanks for all your help @Vizsla - I was able to get everything installed yesterday after jumping through some hoops, but your help definitely made it possible to get everything wrapped up.

    Thanks again!
