Had a good getaway weekend camping with some friends, just north of flagstaff. Good times with good people. It was fun to pick a couple different sites collectively as a group and see what everyone likes in a camp spot. Truck did exactly what it was supposed to and rode great out on the washboard roads.

Got bored and built a taller bed rack. Always fun to play around with the squirt gun! Definitely liking the taller rack for better visibility and what not. Top of tube is 13” from the bed rail, so in between the typical heights of racks offered. All in all happy with the outcome!

Yes! They were closer than they look as well. This was just north of them. Lot of great areas to camp back there.

Yeah man, I’ll shoot you a pm with a couple pins.

As far as the fab work work goes I haven’t really done much more than a couple odds and ends for some friends. I’m not a pro so the $$$ that I would be comfortable charging often doesn’t seem like it would be worth it for me. Not to say that I wouldn’t be willing to possibly do a rack, just a lot of variables. Pm me when your ready with your idea and I can see if I’d be interested in doing it. If not there are a couple guys that I know could take care of you.

    Spent some money today!

    B038FDFE-22FF-46FA-B3FF-CA50CAAE139D.jpg

Haven’t 100% decided on what bar I want to run, but I knew that I wanted xl80’s on the pillars. So, I went ahead and grabbed a pair so that I can have some light while I decide what I want to do for the complete lighting package on this truck.

Snagged some mounts from SDHQ while I was there to stick these suckers on.

Should be installing tomorrow or Saturday :D

After this I could see myself doing some S2’s on the bed rack for some camp lighting, so that will probably be next on the list.

Didn’t get many pics of the install for the xl80’s, but’s it’s pretty self explanatory. Took the time to build my own harness and use braded wire loom with all the ends heat shrunk. Pulled off the windshield wipers and the trim piece below it and ran all the wires back there, then followed an existing harness out and to the switchpro. Came out super clean and happy with the outcome. Here are some pictures of the install (didn’t take as many as I should have) and some glamour picks of the truck from a quick little shooting trip out to the desert this evening.

Shared so all you boys can steal it haha. Other than the wire coming off the light for 8”, you essentially see no wires.

Cliff notes: mark the windshield wipers whenyou take them off. Plastic trim piece has like 6 clips on the front end. You can actually reach the back of them to release them. Just take your time. There’s nothing to really secure it to in that area, so either buy some double sided taped plastic clips that you can zip tie to, or drill a couple holes to run the items though.

Other than that it’s super easy.

The truck got a full workout this week. The first have of the weekend was spent up in the woods doing some camping, followed by a Sunday of towing once I got back from up north.

We wanted to bring both race trucks out to test/play so with minimal people available to go out, the tundra was up to do some pulling. Towing the older race truck, we estimated that this (with the trailer) was right around 7,500 to 8,000lbs. The truck pulled great. The brakes on the trailer took a crap so that portion was a little sketch, but not too bad at all. No bags or anything on the tundra, sitting about 3” off bumps. Rode great though and pulled like a champ!

I ended up getting a bunch of seat time behind the wheel on the race truck and got to have a lot of fun. Did roughly 40 miles or so in the coupe hours that we were out.

Anyone looking for a roof top tent and rack package? Honestly considering just going back to a ground tent right now. Storage is an issue for me at the moment and I have some other ideas for the bed.

Tepui kukenam 3 and a custom build rack. Not sure on price but I’d make someone local a good deal. PM me if interested.

Meh. I know some people will give me shit but with my back injury and living in an apartment it’s just more of a pain right now than anything. Just thinking a nice ground tent with a cot and bag would fit me better. It’s only me so I don’t need a bunch of fancy shit.

In other news the truck towed again last week. Pulled our double rzr trailer down to rocky point to use to run around town while we were down there racing. I love rocky point!

Got a couple items on the wish list, hopefully can make it happen sooner than later with some Black Friday deals coming up.

Definitely time for some better leaf springs. Probably leaving towards having Deaver do a custom pack of some sort. The truck will need to still be able to keep some towing capacity, but I really want as light of a spring as possible. I’ve got some ideas to make that happen, but time will tell if I go that route as it involves air shocks and some fab :anonymous:

The other item is something I’ve been thinking of for a long time, but have been trying to plan it out and draw it in CAD and get it dialed. If I do it I’ll let it be a surprise, but it’s behind leafs for sure.

Enough talking to myself, more just making notes than anything :D

Had zero intention of doing a bumper on this truck but then this thing popped up on my feed. Exactly what I had been picturing in my head.

    62A6E901-8F2E-46EB-8314-C6D31A2EF0EF.jpg

Messaged the guy back and forth for a bit. Seems super cool, just not sure I want to shell out the cash for it. Once you know how little it costs to make a bumper like that it’s hard to pay someone 5x as much.

So needless to say I may grab some tube this week and start fabbing up something next weekend if time allows.

Started a bumper today. Didn’t have much time so just wanted to start the main tube. Got it all rolled and bent at the corners (rolling is a bitchhhh)

Here’s a pic of the tube after I rolled it. Didn’t take any after getting the bends in. Follows the lines perfectly.

    08563EF5-113F-4813-81CB-ACCAF6E9C304.jpg

Don’t have much time in the next few weeks to work on it, so this will just be a slow and steady build as I have time. Should come out nice!

For anyone into racing, keep an eye on the tracker for the 1000 next Friday. I’ll be co-driving the #38 TT for 400 miles at night. Should be in around 6pm for a 7ish hour ride.

Will do. It’s gonna be a fun ride for sure. It will be my first time in that truck so it’s gonna be a shit show.

Icing on the cake is that when we get out we are going to wait there for a UTV to jump into for the last 200 miles of the race. Gonna be a long night and day!
