    2018 5.7L 4x4 Crew Max SR5 - TSS package (gulf states toyota)

I’ve been trying to understand the order of upgrades that i want to do. Let me know if you have any input on the following....

    Suspension

I think I've settled on this bundle.
Kings (front/rear w/ adjusters) and TC UCAs.
    http://dirtydeedsindustries.com/pro...ar-front-shocks-compression-adjusters-bundle/

If I were to go this route, would you guys recommend adding some Coachbuilder shackles to the bundle for the rear leaf springs?

Anything else I'm forgetting? I'd like to be able to run the truck without worrying about angles of CV joints, caster/camber, etc...

    Tires/Wheels
I'm currently running the stock setup from the dealership. The wheels are 20".
For the type of "offroading" that I want to do, I should probably look into selling these wheels and going with something smaller to fit more rubber. What wheel size do you recommend if running 34-35" tires all terrains?
Also, wheel offset? Is there a general amount of backspacing I should look for if I install the above suspension?

    Exhaust
I'm still leaning towards the 8" system that BA mufflers sells. The reason I haven’t pulled the trigger on exhaust is because I've heard that after lifting the vehicle and stuffing a larger spare tire under the bed, the helmhotz resonator may not have enough room to fit. Anyone have experience on this? Can you even fit 35s under the truck or do I need to be thinking about some sort of carrier in the bed? If I can fit 35s underneath, will I be able to install the resonator?

Sorry for barfing out all of these questions....but i wanted to get yalls opinion on this stuff...

    Thanks,
    Jeff

I'm running 18's on Nitto Ridge Grappler 35's and I really like the choice. Lots of sidewall, plenty of width and perfect for daily driving. Road noise is minimal. My +18 offset needed a cab mount chop as well as a bumper spacer and some heat gun work to the fender well lining to keep from having to cut it.

Can’t go wrong with the King/TC route man, shackles in the rear wouldn’t be a bad idea to keep some rake. I run 295/70R18 on 18x9 wheels with a +12 offset, the general sweet spot for minimal rubbing is +18 to +30. It becomes more important to stay in that range when you go up to 35x12.5’s with the increased width.

TC long travel. Deaver 420 SU leaf packs.
    Welcome Jeff.
King TC= great combo. Get it installed and drive it a little. Then decide if you wanna upgrade the leafs with Deavers or something like that and do shackles at that time.
If I could do it over (and I probably will) I'd get a 17" wheel. Careful, not all 17s fit over the calipers. But tires are cheaper and the wheels are too. As for offset, +18 to + 30 generally works pretty well. You may, depending on exact setup, need to make some room in the front wheel wells, the lower the offset the more likely you'll need a CMC.

I love my kings, save a little money and get the ones with no adjusters. Suspension experts will say most will love the shock valving out of the box from King, I do.

What’s up Jeff! As already mentioned the King TC combo is a solid choice for suspension. I would get the TC shackles if you want to fit a 35” spare in the stock location. Pair them with some Deaver leafs if you don’t tow heavy. The coach builder shackles are really nice but they are thick. I had to remove my CB shackles and use the TC shackles to fit a 35” spare underneath.
I would go with 17” wheels and at least a +25 offset. I think the Icon six speeds are really nice.
I have the 8” dirty deeds exhaust system with the helmholtz and it fits with my 35” spare. You just need to be precise when locating the helmholtz

Did you have to mod anything else under the bed to get the 35" to fit?

Yeah just do the bfh mod to the stock metal tire locators. Hahaha They hang down in the way. You can also cut them or remove the rivets. I was lazy and just banged them flat.

Awesome list. I run 18x9+20 I think they’re perfect. I would go slightly more aggressive if anything.

I have the 3/1.5 Toytec/Eibach setup with TCUCA’s and am pretty happy with it.

You can see the rake with the 1.5” shackles here

Drill. Takes FOREVER but it's nice and clean in the end. I'm not ready for BFH therapy on a 40k+ truck.

So to get factory rake with a 3” lift up front is just a 1.5” shackle by itself?

From my research some people were having issues with lifting the 18’s and the TSS. So in order to keep the rake similar to factory, I had the shackle set to 1.5” rather than 1” just to be safe.

Whats your measurements from hub to fender? So all you have is a shackle?

I’m trying to understand also....If one were to do the King (or any suspension) route with the toytec progressive AAL in the rear, or any Leaf pack for that matter, what would adding shackles do? How do they work together? I have an ‘18 myself and looking to do a 3” front (toytec Boss, King, or OME), and want about 1.5” in the rear also to keep a little rake. Thanks in advance for letting me chime in fellas!

Yes just a Toytec shackle set to 1.5” in the rear and the Toytec Boss shocks.

From my understanding a shackle is just another way to raise the rear. As opposed to a block/spacer.

I haven’t taken measurements and am not with my truck until later this month.

Good deal. Any input on shackle versus leaf spring? One or the other, or both?
I always heard to stay away from block/spacer lifts, on any vehicle at that.

Quoting someone else from another thread here:

“The stock shackle bushings are locked into the eyes and do not spin freely. This causes some wind up of the rubber in the shackles that can contribute to bed bounce. The beefier shackles also have less side to side flex, improving ride a little bit too.”

Imo they were better than blocks so I went that route. I wasn’t going all out on this truck as I have other vehicles so that is why I didn’t get leafs or kings/icons etc.

I imagine it would depend on your goals as to wether you want to go all out and do leafs and everything. Shackles are cheap so if you’re spending all that money on new suspension I figure aftermarket beefier shackles would be a no brainer.

But I’m no suspension expert. I would talk to Toytec or just do some research regarding your desired setup and wether to add leaf packs or not.
