Greg yeah i talked to Alex @osidepunker about his plates, and his plates are bending... he cant get proper torque on the bolts because the plates are bending. so im gonna try the ones i posted and maybe add some strengthing to them if needs be

Those look like they’ll do the trick. What is the thickness of the metal?
Looks like a nice setup, I like those flip plates with the super bumps. Where did you get the flip plates and why did you decide to flip them. More clearance?

Flip plates are just normal SUA cradles- instead of plates, like the one @papasmurf posted. Want to try to flip em and gain a bit more axle clearance. We are still negated some axle clearance from our lower shock mounts, as they hang super low. a shock relocation kit would help that.

U bolts are super easy. They're 9/16th. You just need to measure radius and length. Lots of websites sell them in any size you need

It's not really that they're bending and don't work. It's just 9/16th u bolts require a specific torque. 90 ft/lbs I think. Tim told me to only torque them to 50 ft/lbs or they'll bend. He said that 50 is good enough. Well, I torqued to 75 and they look like this:

    20180914_172526.jpg

So really it's my fault for not following instructions, but I wish they would hold the correct torque. They're working fine, but maybe one day I'll try a different design. These are pretty damn thick. I can't imagine how to make them any better

Okie dokie weekend update.. so i pulled my back muscles last week so was still in pain saturday, but sunday was feeling better so made a little progress...

got my new high clearance leaf spring plates

had to do the final welding on them...

then finally got the correct rubber trim for openings in the bed so installed that and mounted the cage

then worked on cutting off the factory upper shock mounts and bump mounts

    soooo much down travel LOL

thats it for now, this week gonna cut holes for shocks, get them trimmed out, mount bump mounts and hopefully get leaf spring mounts tack welded in and pinion angle set.. we will see how this afternoon goes.

    LMFAO!!

I have a buddy that posts like 10 pictures a day on his Jeep build, but doesn’t get anything done. I give him a rash of shit every day. At least Bruce is showing progress.

    This was his last pic.

Bruce where did you get those spring plates??? I'm not sure how I feel about them. they look like they will bend and pinch the sides of the leaf packs

But I do like how they don't hang low

Me too, I'm thinking do all the welding that Bruce did and maybe add another gusset or two between the bolt holes.

I got them from ruff stuff
    https://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/R2198.html

I’m not sure that’s gonna be an issue because the u bolts will be pulling straight up and they index off the leaf pack bolt ... I mean they should be fine. We will see I do like the clearance of them. Time will tell :notsure:
