it's setting off the factory alarm. The reason it doesn't go off if you unlock, lock, then start is because the factory alarm takes 60 seconds to arm after you hit the lock button. After 60 seconds from hitting the lock button, then the remote start will set off the alarm. The fix is to reprogram/adjust the remote start to do this sequence for the start process:
    - Turn off alarm (or unlock doors), start engine, Turn on alarm (or lock doors)

Ah ok. I will just unlock it every time first until I can make it back to the place that installed it .

    Thanks!

If you really want range, check out drone mobile. It is a compustar device that utilizes cell towers to send the signal to your vehicle, so anywhere you and your vehicle have a cellular signal you can lock/unlock/start/stop etc. I had it on my last vehicle and it was awesome. The downside is that you have to pay a subscription, but it was only like $30 a year I think. Through the app I got feedback on the status of the vehicle. I'm sure there are some videos on youtube on it. I just contacted a local shop and the guy wants $500 to install on the tundra.

    I have a Viper on my 2018.
I’m pleased with the Viper product, however I think the installer/programmer who did mine isn’t very good. I’ve had to bring it back to the shop 2 times to have things fixed and get it reprogrammed. :/

I think my problems are related to...
    1) I had it installed Nov 2017 and Viper did not have a specific rom / codes for a Tundra yet so he programmed it with the Sequoia rom.
    2) seems to work fine for a while, and then out of nowhere when I lock it, it starts saying that the trunk is open or the hood is open, so then the remote start won’t work. Both times the installer just reflashed it and the problem went away, but I think it’s real weird that it came back on it’s own without any changes.

Update:: I received the correct harness from Chris. Simple swap, no splicing for tpms. Remote starter functions correctly with compustar fobs and my factory key!!! Works great!

Mine showed up today but the package and link are marked for a 2018 Tundra.
Anyone else with a 14-16 installed one labeled for a 2018??

So after reading through this thread and a few others. Chris, 12voltsolutions and a few others have nice easy to install setups. Then doing my own research I went with compustar so I can have the added security of a tilt sensor and add the drone later. Still allows the stock fob to remote start as well. Going to install myself with the almost plug and play harness and the T11 fob. Requires only 4-5 connections to be made manually. Install instructions attached if anyone was curious what it takes.

I’m getting my compustar installed next weekend. Which is better the T11 or the drone?

I wouldn't say one is better. They each have their purpose. The T11 and all the other RF fobs should be a default. They all differ between two way vs one way and range. The drone is att service (that you have to pay monthly for) for it to have a gps location and link it to your phone. Do the T11 and consider the drone. I'm just doing the T11.

My replacement still hasn't shown up. While I have been able to talk to Chris via phone a couple of times, and he has replied to both emails Ive sent him, he did sound way too busy to hold a conversation on the phone. more than likely why I was sent the wrong unit to begin with.

Replacement showed up and I installed it. It works.... BUT my doors do UNLOCK for about 6secs, then relock, after the truck starts.

As for pricing, some here have had him honor the $200 price when they mention Tundras.com. When I talked to him however, he didn't seem to know what Tundras.com was.

All in all it works, I wont need another one so my opinion of him is irrelevant. The kids and wife are already happy the truck is cool now before they get buckled into their seats.

The reason they unlock and re-lock is to bypass the factory alarm without setting it off at least that’s what I was told

Well my weekend just got a fun new addition to the schedule. Took over a week for everything to come in. It's 95% plug and play. Only have to hardwire the parking lights and the immobilizer. Everything else is plug and play. I'm skipping the hood pin switch and using the oem horn. Also don't have auto headlights to worry about.

Once I have it all finished and test for a few days i'll update everyone on the difficulty and function of everything.

I am currently looking for a remote starter. It sounds like Chris is not trustworthy and his product seems unreliable. Are there any other quality remote starters out there that are reasonably priced and that are plug and play and will work on a 2015 Tundra?

    TIA!
