This is interesting because I’ve never had anything but Toyota trucks, and the cruise controls have always been the same - I just considered it standard like column shifters always being on the right side

I did have to get used to it, but it’s fine now. And there are worse!!

I am renting a 2017 Ford Explode-Ition currently. Here is the stupid layout they have... everything is backward, complicated, and counter intuitive. And cheep-feeling.

what is so complicated about that? Ford (and Lincoln) have used this same layout for 5+ years across many models. It is less scatterbrained than the toyota one.

Every vehicle I have owned that was equipped with cruise (Honda, Toyota, VW, Dodge, Chev, Volvo) has the cruise located at the right of the wheel. The volume/input/scroll has always been on the left. Most had a control layout that was more intuitive by my reckoning.

I have never owned a Ford or a Lincoln because of preference, and I will stop there to avoid providing any unsolicited and potentially offensive opinions on Fords and Lincolns.

It's that way because you are scrolling the screen on the dash display up or down for channel selection or search.

This drives me so crazy I’m tempted to get another steering wheel and try to fix it. Anyone do anything to modify it so that volume is up/down and and tracks are left/right?

I am sure you could just swap around the wires in the plug that are associated with each command and then paint the entire button to remove the icons. Problem solved.

Hard part is just tracing the wires in the button to the plug.

Personally, I never use the buttons on the steering wheel. I'd love to remove all of them..
