Hey fellow LE and other III percenters. I never really leave my heater in the truck, but I figure it's time to purchase one. I've seen a couple out on the market, but I'm hoping to get some real life opinions and reviews on what y'all got. Right now I'm just rocking the magnetic block under the wheel. Thanks in advance

I like the Southeast Toyota model; it only takes up half of the console leaving the other half for easy access to everyday items that don't need to be locked up. There's a picture of it on page one in the link that South Bound Steve provided above.

Tuffy has a security console insert. Its a frame you secure from its inside and keyed lock. Just put mine in and love it, plus leaves big area for more stuff and can use the power outlet.

I forgot to mention I did the center console Qi wireless charging mod, so idealistically I'd like a safe that will allow me to retain that. Shouldne be too hard. So as long as I can safely and securely continue to run my power cord from the cig. lighter port through the arm rest.

thank you everyone for your replies.

Is anyone else running the magnetic block for their CCW. I've had mine for 5 years now and the magnet has held up well.

This one does what you want. The half that isn't locked comes with an organizer tray at the top. And that tray has a cut out for access to the inverter. So, I fyou need to charge another device inside the console while you use the wireless charger outside, it'd work for both. The safe is all metal, so your magnet would work inside.

I have for more than a year had a console safe from Lockerdown. I went with the programmable digital lock so it came out to $429. I swear by it. I feel comfortable leaving a firearm and additional mags in there 24/7. I had my holster guy make out of Kydex a holster for my Sig and instead of a clip, he put a 5 or 6 inch square piece of kydex that I double stick velcro'd to on side of the safe inside. On the other side I had him make me mag rack for 3 of the mags and then double stick velcro'd that to the opposite side, that way the center stays empty for whatever else I wish to put in there. I swear by it. I'm not an officer, but I do serve court orders for a living and I keep it in there 24/7 in addition to whatever I am carrying on my person.

Try the Salex OCD tray. It's perfect with the Tuffy console.

Just noticed your avatar, I spent 26 years serving court orders in the bay area, including San Mateo County. 400 County Center seemed like a home away from home at times. Hang in there with the stupidity that seems to be erupting. I would strongly suggest the Lockerdown. I looked at and bought the Tuffy then sent it back. It isn't all encompassing, if someone cut through the side of the console, it's just plastic, the Lockerdown is steel all the way around and the only way someone is getting into it is with a torch. Just saying, I would hate to see you on the news next as a deputy that had a gun stolen from his vehicle.

Also as a note, just check your rules and regs to see if you are allowed to leave your weapon in your vehicle and if a safe suffices to satisfy them. I am in northern Jersey and my R&R’s dont address it but other PD’s do.

I hear ya. I never do, but in the rare occasion that I have I just felt it was still not secure enough. There's just some places I don't take it. (IE: church and sports arenas.) Shoot, with enough time and the right tools, nothing is safe. Thanks

With the lockerdown you still have access to your console Power outlet. I can take pics in a bit if you want.

Oh yea, I seen it on the website, but I could have sworn someone had to do a mod in order to have their charging cable out. If you scroll up a bit I mentioned in a later post I did the wireless Qi mod so I ran the wire from the cig port and up into the arm rest. That mod looks pretty simple. Proper drill bit and a rubber grommet should do it

Lastly, instead of using Velcro, double sided tape, clips etc, I removed the paddle back off the Blackhawk. It has a three screw triangular pattern. I then made a template, drilled through the safe where I wanted the holster to sit, then bought the appropriate screws and rubber grommets as spacers to secure the holster directly to the safe. It is completely solid in there and doesn’t move around at all.

Gotcha, yes if you want the cable to come through the top of the safe you will have to drill it.

I hear you, I sometimes go to concerts or dinner in Newark and not carrying a weapon there is just irresponsible if you are allowed to. Then I will just leave it in the safe when I go in the venue. They have parking for police with patrol guys controlling it so I don’t have any worries there.

Hello all, I know this is and old thread, but I was just wondering how everyone is mounting the holsters to the sides of the safe besides sticky back or double Velcro. I have a S&W MP shield 40 and a Springfield XDM. I am thinking magnets but I would be much happier with mounted holsters or something of the like

I know a guy that had an old IWB holster that he didn't like. It had a leather side that went up against your skin and then a kydex mold to hold the pistol. He trimmed the leather and used that against the lock box wall. Drilled through the lock box so he could screw it all together. Pretty slick, especially since it has the leather against the inside wall to keep things from getting scratched up.

Did the same thing with the mag carrier.

I see some nice options here but apparently my truck (2008 Tundra) doesn't work with some of these. Does anyone have feedback on some center console safes that would work for 2008? Thanks
