Bought in CL a year ago so I got my three bills out of it. Genuine Toyota accessories. I don’t think it leaks. Wonder what the hell happened ? Peace. D

That isn’t normal. Toyota OEM parts and accessories are top quality.

It was 90’ Sat and Sun. Lots of rain and high winds yesterday. I hardly ever even use it. Just cracked on its own. Love yours , D

Who makes Toyota's covers? I currently have one with the ARE brand at the handle. I do hear the occasional noise in the back which makes me uneasy after seeing that crack...

Yea that sucks.. no idea how that could happen. No crazy off-roading or potholes recently? Rapid temperature change with sun/rain? Maybe you can contact the manufacture and see if they can help you out.

Nobody stood on it. Nothing out of the ordinary? Doesn’t affect performance. There is a inner layer to protect gear. I was planning on going with something retractable so I could mount an overland rack on truck . Does screw up my resale value. They are 1200 new so I was going to ask five hundred for it. Now I might get fifty. Peace. D

I didn't know there was a OEM made a hard fiberglass cover? They have the tri-fold.

Wondering if the cover may have been attempted to be closed on top of something, not allowing it to close. Maybe from previous owner. This just from the way the crack looks. Maybe vibration and/or imperfect install (maybe in a bind somehow) made it show its ugly head.
    Whatever the culprit, really blows!

How stiff are the shocks for that thing? Could be from the stress of pushing it down.

Had the unpainted Undercover (black) one on previous truck. Thinking it was plastic, very durable. I believe yours is fiberglass which may not be as durable; although I have never seen a cracked one like yours. I think all the painted to match covers are fiberglass.

I am guessing the crack is in the gelcoat... but the underlying fiberglass is prolly OK.....
It is black... so direct sunlight on a 90 degree day will get surface temps over 170 deg....
The gelcoat is kinda brittle...and the expansion and contraction difference between the gelcoat and fiberglass
due to different CTE and temperature cycles just finally created this....
Seems like something that should NEVER happen... a reputable vendor oughta make this right.....
    IMHO

You are right. It is not cracked all the way thru. Just the outer surface. I am just going to let it ride for now. Hardly noticeable. I called my local Toyota dealer (Maplewood). They could not find the part number when they looked it up. Said might be from a Toyota dealer in southwestern states?
He offered me one that they can get flat black primer for $986.00. I said no thanks.
    Love yours, D

I didnt even think about it being gel coated.
Long linear cracks tend to be from a flexing type of stress.

It is very possible the bed cover was miss handled before it was installed on your truck. Once it is mounted and laying flat it wouldnt take long before it would start to craze
