That’s not the norm, FYI. And basing anything on a single set of conditions isn’t sound. Size of the dealership is irrelevant and just a coincidence in your case. Every dealership, regardless of size, gets money for every loan they write. Volume dealers may get more because they write more, but if you have the same deal and you either pay cash or finance, dealer makes more money on the deal if you finance.
That’s because they were going to write your loan with a bank that was going to pay a flat fee no matter the loan amount, so they would make more money on the deal. This is more standard

I don't know about everyone else here but I couldn't see myself paying 54k for a TRD Pro, that too for lesser features compared to a platinum/1794.
That TRD Pro bed stamp is just not worth the extra 6k.

Platinum is full color match already.

I think it would be easier, idk about cheaper or even possible, to convert a Platinum to a Pro to equal a Plat Pro than convert a Pro to a Platinum to achieve a Plat Pro. I can add a suspension in my garage. You can’t feasibility add dual climate control from a Platinum to a Pro. Cooled seats can probably be added, but that’s going to be harder and more expensive all said and done than replacing 2 coil overs and 2 shocks. Add dimming, power fold mirrors...those are like $600/piece then the $60 switch and it would take custom wiring. Probably not going to be able to add the memory seats and mirrors that are standard on a Platinum to a Pro.

However, with them bringing parking sensors and blind spot monitor to the Pro for 2019s, it’s a little less different than the 2017. But I think it’s not actually possible/feasible to add all Plat features to a Pro, but all the “Pro” features can easily and more cheaply be added to a Platinum (minus bed stamp).

Just my opinion tho. if priced similarly idk how I could buy a Pro instead of a Plat (no way I would- i’d Buy a Platinum and get kings OEM kit for 2500-3k and have it all, BK style lol).

@Watt maker i forgot the Pro wheels. Those puppies expensive lol. Would have an even better case if it came with real tires cus that would save a decent chunk of change if buying after the fact.

Revised- Upon more thinking, it’s more about possibility vs cost lol

FYI - its been reported that the PRO's are not coming with parking sensors, even though the marketing models showed it did. The production models don't have it.

Really? Wow, wth Toyota. Probably means it isn't coming with blind spot monitor either. Either one of those - even more reason to get a Plat and "Pro" it with same parts (or better parts for same cost).

Looking at pics and there are no sensors in the front corners. Wow! Just keeps getting better...so $50k+ TRD Pro doesn't even baseline features off a SR5. If I can get ANYTHING on a SR5 that I can't get on a Pro, that's insane and I would never get a Pro. Especially for Platinum or more cost. Crazy. Thanks for pointing that out, @G10dra

I’m actually glad, I don’t like parking sensors or blind spot monitoring. Just something to break.

I like my backup camera and that’s about the extent of technology love. I tow a lot so it’s nice and handy

Here’s the nice thing about a pro. Most people want them, but not everyone gets one. Then people spend money to make them look like a pro. You also, will never get the resale value like a pro. Simply because it’s not a pro, even if it looks like one.

Cost of ownership on depreciation is going to be about the same on an SR5 done up and a pro stock with bigger wheels and tires.

So..... you can’t really knock it on “cost”

@jordanpop1 - I get your point. If an individual buys a PRO and actually uses it for what it builds for then great. All the offroading/mudding/ off the grid adventure don't really have a need for a parking sensor/blindside monitoring BUT my point is that for 56K I would want to have all the bells and whistles offered for the truck at that price and I mean the first aid kit also.

    You welcome @GreatAvalon

And don’t get me wrong. I have my gripes against the pro. But at the end of the day when/If I go to sell mine I’m going to get more value out of it which will upset the costs of adding aftermarket to any other model.

Not too mention it’s all manufacturer warrantied. Even with the coach builder! Awesome!

@jordanpop1 My price point was based on the #69 posting above assuming that you negotiated and added Tax, title, license on that number. What I trying to say is that the features that you get with the platinum/1794 are beneficial from the day you buy the truck until the day you decide to sell it, however, resell value is beneficial only after you've sold it. As for adding aftermarket parts that differ individually and from what I've been reading here not many platinum owner have tried to make their platinum to platinum pro.

The point to be taken here is all trim levels heave their own value. The Pro is not out of its own league seeing as how it can be sold for 6k less three years down the road.

Get whatever makes you happy. If you want as many features as possible grab a platinum or 1794. There are other options to be had I. Trim levels.

I know I’m paying a premium for the Pro, but I’m cool with that. The value is there for it to be an investment

Yea, I'm going to have to agree to disagree with anybody who doesn't value the added convenience of parking sensors and/or blind spot monitor. That's perfectly fine for you, but I'm not on the anti-technology boat.

Essentially, anybody who wants a Pro can get one. It just takes money. So yea, I'm going to hold cost against a Pro when an SR5 gets me additional features for significantly less.

Just me though. No right or wrong.

I completely agree! However, when you would want to add suspension, chrome delete, exhaust, leather you start inching your way to the cost of the Pro.

No I don’t like technology is my trucks. I don’t like crawl mode. BSM, I still check my blind spots every time. I don’t trust a computer to keep my truck at a safe distance from
    The vehicle in front me.

I like, AC, power seats, Windows, and my back up cam for trailering.

I don’t like things beeping and flashing at me. I’ve been driving for 20 years, no accidents. Never needed additional safety features for what I can be in control of.
