    Howdy,

First things first my name is Taylor from east Texas and this is my 4th Toyota. My wife and I have had two 16 t4rs a 17 tacoma and now an 18 sienna and this sr5 Tundra.
Once I get my photos organized a bit better I can post pics of previous rides.

But you're probably here for a Tundra so here we go.
My builds are always done in stages and with a goal in mind for the vehicle. My tacoma was a do it all kinda thing. DD/ Weekend warrior/offroader... etc.

    Why a Tundra?
While the taco was great and the t4r was great my wife decided she wanted more space in her ride and wanted a Sienna. I promptly said no....
Then went to the dealer and bought her a Sienna.
While I was there I got to looking at Tundras and started talking to the boss lady (momma bear/baby momma/wife) about it. She always complained about how small the taco was for our family of four (daughter[4] and son [1.5]) on any trip of distance. Needless to say she told me what the budget was and if I could make it work that she would prefer more space and it would make her more likely to want to go camping/overlanding more often. Done deal. I worked a great deal out with Patt Lobb Toyota in Longview TX and they ate about 3g in negative equity and are lifting and installing wheels and tires(see stage 1)

    Stages ⊙= done
Stage 1~ lift/wheels/tires ⊙ ordered. Awaiting delivery and install
    Suspension~
Up front~Fox 2.5 c/o with remote resi with total chaos uniball uca(to be replaced with delta joint once wars out)
Out back~ coachbuilder 2+ shackles with fox 2.5 remote resistance
Wheels~ Method Vex in matte black 18x9
Tires~ Nitto Ridge Grapplers LT 285/75/18
    Stage 1.1~cosmetics/lighting
    Color match bulge and grill
Bedline bumper caps with duplicolor like @50statesoverland
Replace stock mirrors with tow mirrors
    Husky floor lines
    Window tinting
    2019 pro led headlights
Carried over from my taco~Baja squadron sports In fog pockets⊙
Replace interior lighting with led boards
    ?? Rock lights??
    ??ditch lights??~baja to match?
    ??aux reverse lighting??~baja?

Stage 1.3~ productivity(scattered in where it fits in or determined needed)
Bed cap vs soft topper(I liked the one I had on the taco with plans on alucab. I'm leaning more towards are dcu cap
    Bed organization and storage.(diy)
    Underseat storage

    Stage 2~armor(likely 2019)
    Whiteknuckle full step plate sliders
Rci front full skids with p&p gas skid and shock skids

Stage 3~bumpers/winch. Not real high on my priority list as the main focus is family friendly remote dispersed camping trips. Subject to change based on family interest.

I will try and keep a current photo here:

Photo dump of previous rides up till now.
These should be in chronological order from most recent back. In the past I haven't been the best about taking pictures of vehicles let alone trips or mods I've done. I plan for this thread to document and keep me on track.

Lift wheels and tires should all be here this week if not early next week. Cab mount chop should be done early next week as well. Its starting to get real. I'm not sure how the quality of these images will turn out. So let me apologize for the quality in advanceFB_IMG_1537151978045.jpg FB_IMG_1537152087040.jpg FB_IMG_1537152112908.jpg FB_IMG_1537152245448.jpg FB_IMG_1537152300516.jpg FB_IMG_1537152308032.jpg FB_IMG_1537152399742.jpg FB_IMG_1537152421104.jpg

Scheduled for a cab mount chop on Friday. I called the shop, Kryptonite Kustoms in Bossier City Louisiana and spoke with the owner. I have a tattoo appointment that day. The owner said he would give me a ride to the parlor while they work on my truck. Now that's customer service. I plan to have them to shave as much off as possible while maintaining structure. They did a friend of mine 4 runner and it looks factory. Lift ETA nextweek. .

Yeah you're way south. You're basically In the gulf. I'm 30 minutes from the LA/TX border.

Any insight on why you went with RCI for the front skids, but P&P for the gas tank?

I'm (possibly) going the alternate route... I already ordered P&P for the front, but was thinking I might go with the slightly thinner RCI for the gas tank since it probably won't get hit as often as the front. (took me all of 3 weeks to destroy the factory TRD Offroad front skid)

The one thing we CAN seem to agree on are the White Knuckle sliders!! Full plate so the kids don't break a leg when their tiny feet slip through the gap...

The main reason I chose the rci front skids(tentatively as I have not ordered yet) is the design. The mounts and use of an additional crossmember for the trans skid is the winner. The way that they attach in my opinion is a lot more of a heavy duty design. The p and p designed gas tank skid I feel is a better design than what is offered by the other players on the market. Bedbuilt and rci design uses the factory straps for the skid. P&P has a fabricated mount for the skid. It's probably a moot point on the gas tank.
Additionally I have several friends running rci armor and their stuff is top notch.

Also, white knuckle ftw. Lots of friends in the LC world run them and I've never seen a negative review.

Small update cab mount chop is complete. Since I did it before I had the lift and tires on the shop said they would modify if needed. Also removed all my flaps. I may put the rears back on albeit, trimmed.

Lift is shipping in more than one order, half today and the rest should be shipped Monday. 20180928_171607.jpg 20180928_171513.jpg

I decided I wanted to have progressive valving vs the digressive offered by icon. Additionally, there is a shop semi local to me that can rebuild fox, radflo, king, ads vs having to send back to icon. Lastly it was up to price. I got the best deal on the fox vs rhw other brands. To be honest itll probably be overbuilt for my uses. But I'd rather cry once.

Makes sense! I also think Fox makes a superior shock... I just got a good deal on these icons so I stuck with them

    Lift is on. Man it's nice. I feel like it's made my Johnson bigger...20181013_121604.jpg 20181013_122155.jpg 20181013_122205.jpg 20181013_122216.jpg 20181013_124102.jpg

After about 15 miles on the new parts I needed some offroad therapy...
    20181013_132109.jpg 20181013_132307.jpg 20181013_132419.jpg 20181013_135355.jpg

After a day of sitting I noticed I had a low tire.. strange because they were installed the prior day.
Took her to a local tire shop and found out the tpms sensor is bad. To discount tire in the morning to get r fixed.

Definitely going to need a bit more trimming. I looked at the spacers available for the front bumper but I don't like the way that it causes the fender line and bumper line to not line up.... also a picture of the front suspension...20181014_134441.jpg 20181014_134412.jpg

    And just because... stuffin 35s.20181014_134425.jpg

Discount was booked up this morning, bounced over to another local shop and luckily the tpms sensor has a collar that holds the valve stem and sensor to the wheel and has a gasket to hold air.... when originally installed the gasket was ripped. 12 dollar fix and I'm on the road again.
Headed Wednesday for front bumper trimming and a once over on the lift by a localish to me respectable off road shop.

Upcoming later this month is window tint, floor liners, possibly topper( still undecided hard vs soft)
In the long run hard shell would likely cost the same as soft as I'd have a bed case fabbed up to go around it to be able to mount awning and possible rtt.

In the running is are dcu/ leer dcc/ softopper.
I just need approval from the boss lady to spend the extra on the aluminum.

Lastly we've got an overland/exploration type trip coming up on the 26th-28th. I'll make sure and take plenty of pics!
