I towed with my 2007 DC 2WD 4.7 for the first time over the weekend. But I only towed my BMW track car on a 14' open trailer. The car weighs in just a tad less than 2850 lbs with fuel, and the trailer was another 1500 lbs for the trailer. Had no problems, got 13 mpg. I'm in the Southeast, so I see some rolling hills on the way to the track, but nothing that I would call a mountain.

I'd really like to upgrade to an 18' or 20' enclosed, primarily so I could sleep in the trailer (with AC) at the track. The ones I've looked at are in the 3,000-3,200 lbs range. I keep my tools and spares to a minimum typically, so figure another 300 lbs or so for tools, spares, pop-up, etc. So figure, 6200-6500 lbs.

I'm only looking at 3-4 weekends a year, and towing in the 100-200 mile range each way.

I realize it's below the towing capacity, but I'd like some real world experience with towing an enclosed trailer with the 4.7L.

    Thanks!
