We bought a house and had a 30x32 Morton building garage built. I've been slowly working on it inside. I've done studs, rafters, r19 rolled insulation and just finished the poly wrap.
Now is where I'm stuck on what to finish the inside with and wondering what everyone else has done? I want least amount of $$$ as possible.
Once I decide on a covering, I can do the ceiling and blow in insulation. I like the rustic type look which there is an old hay bale barn by a local farm that is about to fall over covered in old corrugated steel I'm sure I could get for little to nothing but a lot more work/time and just do the ceiling and maybe wainscot...

Get that corrugated steel for free or almost free, that would be my choice. Yeah it might be a PITA to install, but you can't beat free or close to it.

I'd also look at wood paneling of some sort. You know that tacky crap in your mom's basement, yeah that stuff would be awesome for a garage. There are a few different types, some of it is actual real wood boards, most of the wood board stuff is pine of some sort with a stain. Will take a good bit of time to install the real wood boards.

The other type is cheapo manufactured sheets, some of it looks better than others. Basically its plywood with synthetic woograin. Very easy to put up, its like hanging drywall but you don't need tape/mud the seams.

I've also seen that wainscoting stuff, looks like real wood, you can paint or stain it, but it is basically a manufactured plywood product. You can put that up, just leave it unstained, gives you that real wood look(will be fairly plain light pine sort of finish) without the hassle of installing individual boards.

Of course the latest thing is to use reclaimed wood, aka barn wood. That would look really cool, but can be pricey if you buy it from somebody. If you know somebody who has an old barn they are tearing down, ask about the wood. That stuff is really hot right now.

    Flux capacitor!
Great garage space you’ve got there! I would look into T1-11 plywood sheets. They come in different thicknesses. Most common thickness is 1/2” and 3/4” thick. Personally I would do the 3/4” plywood but if cost is your main focus then 1/2”. You can also just do green board Sheetrock and just tape and float it.

I'm a fan of sheetrock, easy to hang and easy to repair when you decide you want another outlet, plumbing etc... I'd run 1/2" pvc in the attic area for compressed air and have several convenient drops.;)

I used plain old OSB. I even put the stamped dates facing in so I could reember what year I built my shop.

My walls are 10' except where the vaulted ceiling section is. I used barn tin ( the same stuff that is on the outside of your barn) for the last 2'.

I wanted to use OSB so I could hang shelves or cabinets anywhere. No fusking around trying to find a stud.

I did white liner in my 40x45 panel. Sucks to put up but is easy to clean and super reflective.

I used sheet rock on my sides and paid less than $100 to complete my oversized two car garage.

Went to Lowe’s and selected the ones damaged at the corners. Clerk sold them for 1/2 the cost.

    Wheel and deal em!

I’d love to have that kind of space in my garage. Only one of my four vehicles will actually fit in my “3 car garage”.

My is stick built but I sheetrocked the walls and channel drain metal on the ceiling makes for great reflection of the light. This isn't a good picture but you can get the idea.IMG_20180723_182647195.jpg IMG_20180414_114926001.jpg

I like it. Wish i had that space. I would first pipe to outlet/data boxes to the ceiling around the room. The I would osb and drywall. The wood behind drywall makes it easier when you want to mount stuff. Wonemt need to search for studs.

I'm going to do plywood in the end where my shop and bench are so I can hand cabinets and then white steel liner everywhere else. The good/bad of steel is another row of either purlins to screw to. Good is I have 8 1/2" of fiberglass in the walls, bad is the loss of the space. I framed my exterior walls 2x6, 16 OC.fullsizeoutput_8aa.jpg IMG_1216.jpg

Suprised to see the Toyota in there with that GM garbage, figured you'd have a late model Chevy truck. JK, love the last of the Trans Am's and that 80's Chevy truck looks like you've put a lot of love into it, its pretty bitching.

I used to daily a 1999 Camaro Z28/automatic. Really fun car, stupid fast for 2003(hell low 13's today is still fast IMO). Loved the look and that ass on the ground seating position, felt like you were driving a poor man's Jaguar XJ220 lol. Sold it, missed it, bought another one in 2010, a 1998 Camaro Z28, rag top, six speed. That was more of a garage queen, got it for a steal at $8,000 with 92k one owner miles, it was immaculately clean even with the miles on it. Had it for 2 years, put 7000 miles on it, moved, didn't have space for it, wanted a newer daily driver, sold it for $10k. Fun cars, loved the LS1 and styling, and hell both mine were very reliable as well(except for that weak ass rebuild it at 100k miles 4L60e automatic).

If I ever have unlimited garage space, I'd buy an 80's Silverado like my grandpa had, two tone black/grey, 1/2 ton, reg cab/short box. Man that was kind of his retirement gift to himself, he kept that truck looking immaculate, had a set of craigers and white letter tires on it.

Nicest garages I've been in have OSB covered with sheet rock. Gives you the clean look but also allows you to mount anything you want wherever you want.

The problem now is the cost... Plywood is through the roof! $28/sheet for 1/2 good one side. Steel is actually cheaper. I don't want to finish all the drywall. Steel is done as soon as it is screwed on & easy to clean.
