Oh the great debate. So does SWAT use their Glocks clearing homes or an M4? I know you volunteer with the local PD, so honest question. I already know what the military does.

Swat, longer barrel but you're also taking a team of 3 or so minimum to clear. One takes one side of the door, turns the corner to enter while #2 may hit the middle, and #3 veers left...theres more ways to do that, but that's what I've seen and helped with...some may vary per agency as well..

I know if I'm going to clear a room (let's go with a basement for this example) by myself, I can poke around the bottom of the staircase wall with a gun in my hand and posted vs someone seeing a long barrel first.

If I'm at the top of a landing, I'm going shotgun..all circumstantial.

Personally, if you are in my house, I will patiently wait for you to make another really poor choice. It all depends on circumstances like you said Sean. A common theif isn't going to stick around with large dogs or if knowing the homeowner is home. If they don't leave, they are not there for your possessions, and the game changes.

As much as I like the AR platform, deep down inside me burns the love for the M1 and M14....

Mostly why I chose the AR platform in 5.56:

-NATO, and this is why I no longer own .40 cal pistols.
-Mine are MIL spec and has no proprietary parts on it.
-I can carry 8-9 mags with my bug out bag. Let's say I decided to grab the .308 AR platform (a beast by the way), I can only carry a third of the ammo due to weight.
-As long as one doesn't go full retard on accessories, the weapon is lighter than most other weapons platforms at a reasonable price. Most mid-level weapons are under 1500.00.
-Like the 9mm, the 5.56 is a follow up round. I love my 1911, but if I were to take only one pistol with me, it would be my G19.

The AR platform is not for everyone, that is for sure. One has to pick whatever fits them.

Shipping is fast and customer service is great. They have a clock indicating how many hours left for a shipment to be shipped that same day. Emailing questions, I usually get a quick reply. And they don't list products on their website unless its in stock.
