This summer has gone by way too fast, and I haven't gotten to climb nearly as much as I wanted to. I only grabbed a total of 5 summits. Today I decided to take a break from all of my work to do at home and head up north a little bit to go climb an iconic New Mexico landmark. One of Georgia Okeefe's favorites: Cerro Pedernal. Getting to the hike features a drive up a fairly gnarly forest service road. Most choose to park down at the bottom and hike the road, but I decided to take the Tundra up a ways. I could have made it to the road's end, which is only about a half mile from the summit, but decided to stop a bit early so I could get some exercise.

It was a beautiful morning and a great little hike that includes a short but fun 4th class scramble. I was quickly reminded of why I love climbing so much. The views were simply breathtaking.

The Tundra did great as usual, and I was finding myself thinking of how many excellent adventures the Tundra has taken me too. I have had countless climbing, hiking, and mountain biking trips that all started with a drive in the Tundra. Loads of memories and fun. Although I complain about it some, and wish that there were some things that were different about it, in the end it is a great truck, and I have a lot fun thanks to it. Today was a bonus, as the road was fairly challenging and fun in itself.

Anyway, here are a few pictures from this morning.
