Had I known what a pain in the ass it was I would have taken time to photo all the steps and post them here. This was on my 2007 tundra.

Just swapped out right front wheel bearing. Apparently nobody offers this as a hub assembly like 99% of the rest of the world does. And when you buy the bearing assembly the parts guy doesn't mention you should also buy the seal that goes up against the wheel flange because you'll probably destroy it during disassembly. Spent half the day figuring out what to use to press it apart. Can't fit it in the press, can't fit bearing splitter around it, can't remove the screws that hold hub assemblyKIMG2107.jpg to the steering knuckle because they hit the wheel flange. After trying several pullers I used the one in the photo successfully. When pulling it apart only the outer bearing on the spindle comes off. At this point I decided to cut the inner bearing off the spindle because I didn't have the seal and didn't want to wait until Monday to find out I'd have to order it for Tuesday. If I had the replacement seal then a bearing splitter would have been much easier.

So now I am ready to put it back on the truck and from what I've seen on threads and other forums is Axle Nut Torque is 249 ft lbs. Of course out of five torque wrenches I own the biggest one I have goes up to 200 ft lbs. Anybody else got that spec as 249?

    That's accurate.

You can rent a 250lb torque wrench from auto zone or oriellys

Some images of the assembly. The old bearing assembly on left minus the bearings I didn't want to dig from trash. You can see the screws hit the wheel flange so they are captive until pressed apart. The seal I referred to is indicated by pencil in 2110 photo. I can mock up the puller assembly tomorrow and snap a photo. I'm bagging it for today.

Thanks. Hadn't thought of that. One of the guys at work has one I can borrow but he wasn't around today. I'll snap a pic. It's a beast of a torque wrench. Things gotta be about four feet long. I think it's a 1 inch drive.

250'lbs of torque... That would approximately be 5ft cheater on a 3/4 breaker bar with socket seated on axle nut resting on a jack stand. Me bouncing on the far end of cheater bar about 3 - 3.5 times.

So they seriously dont sell the hub assembly with a bearing already pressed?

    Thats crazy.

I tried a couple different vendors. Both had the same story. I searched online also. Several manufacturers to choose from but not as an assembly. I opted for the Timken.

Here's a photo of the setup I used to split it.

Mother of torque wrenches. Crappy last few days. Broken fasteners, broken brake line, threads rounded off and rethreaded. Wheel bearing growling noise is gone but high pitched whirring noise still present. It's definitely coming from the front right but not sure what the source is. I guess I'll turn up the radio and run it until something fails. Headed to Tennessee next month. 2,000 mile round trip towing a 24 foot enclosed trailer. Unloaded on the way down, overloaded on the way back.

Good to know. I checked with three local vendors. They all offered the same version, just different brands and different quality of different brands. I purchase a lot of parts so I get pretty good discounts locally. I'll be ringing some bells on this. Either way, the additional expense would be worth avoiding the aggravation. It's the difference between an hour job and a half a day job.

Ya I looked all over the place and I believe they just recently started offering this.

Now the pain in the ass is the rears, which I haven't done yet. I have the parts, just not the proper tools to press out/in the bearings...

I installed a set of preassembled hubs about 8 months ago from I think Rockauto, I think I cheaped out (had a lot of things I was fixing at the time) but they’ve held up to everything so far. I ordered from the Marion guy that @computeruser6 posted a link to for my wife’s FJ, He basically takes a cheap hub and a good quality bearing to make affordable assemblies, he’s just very slow.

    Yes.
Old hub needs to be split from the old bearing.
If you can return, get this one. Preassembled. Makes life much easier if you aren't familiar with pressing.
I once pressed the hub and bearing together.. forgot the damn bolts in between.

I can press it but I figured this would be easier than the bearing itself that's why I got it

you can try moving that tire to another corner and see if the sound moves. When you get it up on the jack stands check if there is any play with the wheel on. Push Left/right and Top/bottom.

Give front to back a try. One side at a time and see if that makes a difference.

The real pain is pressing the old spindle out. Getting it jigged up in the press was a bitch. In hindsight, leaving the assembly on truck and using a ten pound slide hammer with hub flange adapter would probably be easier but it took a lot of press to get it moving.KIMG2110.jpg Make sure to get the inner seal as indicated in my previous photo. You will likely damage it during removal.

Yeah, definitely do that. The difference is 90 to 120 minutes to replace as an assembly or all freaking day screwing around with pullers, slide hammers and a press.

249 pound feet torque on the axle nut.

They’ve been selling the whole assembly for years. There’s actually a few different companies that make them. Sorry you had to go through all that lol.

I just wish there was an easy way to do the rears... I am going to take my axle out and get a shop to press out/in the bearings.

Yeah, I know that now. Two parts suppliers I normally go to both had same option, without spindle, available from three different manufacturers. After learning they are available I went back and told them. Going into it I didn't think it was a big deal until I realized I didn't have a way to hold it in the press. Since the screws are captive you can't get a bearing splitter to fit in there.
