There's a grinding noise when I open the sunroof. It is coming from the auto wind deflector because it grinds when I drop below certain speeds. Any advice??

I can a little bit later. My friend is using my truck right now. I know it's the auto wind deflector. It makes that grinding noise at certain speeds when the deflector is supposed to go up or down depending on how fast you're going. It doesn't move anymore, just making a grinding noise.

Sounds like a gear or linkage is broken which is what is making the noise. I'm not sure exactly how it operates, so it is just speculation on my part.

Yes, that's what I think it is too. I'm just wondering how to fix it. Or, just disable it someway. I don't know anything about sunroofs.

I know it's an old thread, but I have an old truck (2011) and the same exact problem. Did you ever figure out how to fix this?
