Looking at a used Leer 100XQ with carpet headliner. What’s a fair price for a used one?

    Thanks!

Depends what kind of shape it's in. If they're $2500+ new then I guess it comes down to if you'd rather pay what they're asking or just buy a new one?

    Asking is $1350.

Are these much better than the other Leer tops, or not really?

They're not really "better". Most people get this model for the looks since it has solid side windows, but they don't really open (just kind of "twist open" a couple inches). The XR is basically the same thing but has recessed sliding windows on the sides. Anyway, $1350 is a pretty good price if it's in good shape, plus you could probably negotiate a couple hundred more off. Is it already the same color as your truck?

I’m looking for a topper for my hunting truck. It’s not especially important that the topper is beautiful :)

It’s at a used topper place. $1350 is the price installed with tax. Don’t know if he will be willing to negotiate, especially a couple hundred....

Color is unfortunately ALMOST the same. Just a shade off. I would have preferred it to be more off, so it doesn’t look like a failed attempt to be the same... know what I mean?

Oh, gotcha, I assumed it was a private party. Have you thought of looking into a SofTopper? It's a canvas topper that you can easily take on and off, plus it'd look much better than an off-color canopy. I heavily debated getting one, but decided I needed the security of a hard topper. If you don't need to be able to lock stuff in the bed it might be worth looking in to. Much cheaper as well.

But yeah, if you need a hard top and don't care for the XQ I'd just spend a little extra and get a brand new color-matched 100R or ARE V series.

I have seen those, and I am still thinking about them.

I’m not so much worried about the security side of things. Thinking about when I sleep in the bed on an October/November hunting trip in the mountains, the hard top would be a better overall shelter.

I don’t know if anyone has tried a Softopper for this purpose, but I haven’t ruled them out.

How about a Leer 100R? Sliding window at the front, sliding side windows, with a carpet headliner. Two T-handles for the back window.

Good idea. Wouldn't be much more than the used XQ and you get it warrantied with a color match.

A used XQ is not an easy find. They are expensive. If its only $1350 i'd jump on it, especially if you're in the market for one and its color matched. 100r is the base model. Ive owned 2 100r (on previous Tacomas i've owned) and liked them. You could prob pick up a new 100r for what the price of a used XQ is selling for.

$1350 sounds good. I paid $1500 for mine off Craigslist. It was in excellent condition, only used 3 months and was exact color match.

Upon closer inspection, the 100XQ has a big chip at the corner where the bottom left corner of the rear glass meets the fiberglass shell. Basically a piece about the diameter of a quarter has broken off. I’m sure the top still functions properly.......... at $1350.

Meanwhile, the 100R is about $200 cheaper (~$1100) and is in really nice shape.

A brand new 100R in my area is about $1500.

A brand new 100XR in my area is $1800.

An ATC topper dealer near me sells them new for $1350.

I’m having a tough time choosing because I am not familiar enough with them.

If I had to choose right now, I’d probably go with the used 100R for ~$1100. It’s the wrong color (metallic grey) but I think it could be an interesting contrast against my beige truck. I might also consider the brand new ATC topper.... ?

Not having it color matched would drive me nuts, but if that's cool with you then it seems like a good deal! If it were me I'd just pay the few hundred extra and get a brand new color-matched 100R. Good luck!
