Weed ID..

No, not that weed...

Can anyone tell me what this weed is?
It is taking over the back yard. It is aggressive as all get-out. It is tough shit, and has really deep roots.
I don't want to resort to killing everything, but I might have to go that route.

The area where the old driveway material was spread last year in prepping for the replacement material stands out from the rest of the "lawn", as this is the only thing growing in that swatch.

What you’ve got looks more like kochia than what the OP has. You’re gonna have to hit that hard with RoundUp to kill it since it’s going to seed in that pic.

 

Don’t use RoundUp when the grass is actively growing unless you want to smoke the piss out of the grass too.

 

Use some old oil from your old change on it.

 

I can't use Round Up. Landlords wife is into organic garden. No weed killer allowed anywhere. She tries to pull those suckers up. Obviously can't keep up..haha. Being too green doesn't make sense ..

 

There is a Round Up version that doesn't kill grass. It works.

 

Oil is all natural. First used by the Indians (Native American) to pitch their canoes, then ‘discovered’ by ‘whitey’ floating in above ground pools of dirt in Pennsylvannia. Hence the name brand ‘Pennzoil’. Weird hand model history lesson.

Use 2-4-D. It's a broadleaf killer and won't hatm grass. Double the suggested amount and spray when it's warm with no wind

I read that goats only chew down to the bottom of the leaves whereas sheep chew right down to the root.

If 24 D won't do it try it again on a hot day and put more than the suggested amount in. I have had some survive the first spray but not a second. If that won't do it then normally you just round up the area wait till it's all dead and start over.

Try your local landscaping companies for some help or if they have a combo of herbicides that would work without destroying the grass. I think weed b gone has a product that has the 24D in it along with some dicamba that might work, but again go heavy on it.
