Found a light scratch after some off roading. Didn't notice it till I was putting on a spray detailer after a good wash. I was looking into some of the chemical guys products and noticed the cleaner Wax.

Would a cleaner Wax be able to buff out a light scratch? I can just barely feel the scratch with my fingernail. I just don't want to ruin a 1 year old trucks paint .

If the cleaner Wax would not do it would an optical grade polish from a detailer be a better option?

    Thanks

    Paul

I can’t speak to today’s factory paint jobs and cleaner waxes, but 20-some odd years ago I used to use cleaner wax to “buff out” light scratches. Hopefully someone else with more recent detailing experience will chime in.

Thanks .I'm going to try the cleaner first and see how it goes.. the truck is the cement color and is hiding the scratch pretty well. But still want it gone

you can try it but traditionally a cleaner wax does neither job well. A light compound is best, followed by a good sealer/wax

Yeah, that’s a good color to hide scratches.

This works good for a light scratch.

With my Porter Cable I will use the Meguiars 105 Ultra Cut Compound with a Lake Country Mfg orange pad (light cutting) them follow up with Meguiars 205 Ultra Finishing polish with a LC white pad (polishing) . This has been a pretty effective way to remove swirls and light scratches from my vehicles.

I agree with tundrafan.the instructions he gave have worked amazing for me. I use a flex orbital buffer.the lake City pads and the orbital buffer won't burn the paint.after you are done be sure to put a couple good coats of wax. I buff wax mine with the black lake country pad and setting on buffer at 4.It gets the wax into the paint better!
