I just finished loading up my Tundra for my upcoming vaca. Good news for some is my cell won't work and no internet where my property is.

    60.jpg
57.jpg Not much preload at all. I do have a fairly decent AAL.

Previous pic showed my 45 qt Yeti. There is a lot of competition with Yeti now. I don't give a rat's ass which high end cooler you go with. If not properly prepped, regardless of brand, it will not perform as it should. Most (99.9%) of negative reviews for any brand is......"It only kept ice for 3 days, my cheapy Coleman can do that". WRONG. High end coolers need to be prepped. At a minimum, pre-chill with ice or re-usable ice packs 24 hr before your trip. I go one step further. I clear out some space in one of my chest freezers an put my Yeti into it with my re-usable ice packs. Last Memorial Day I did the same thing. I stopped at the Safeway in Walsenburg which is about 50 miles from my property. I always stop there to special order 4 1" Angus rib eyes along with asparagus and craft brews for 4 dinners. The butcher is always happy to oblige. Fresh cut steaks, not frozen. Last year I got to my property around 11AM Friday. Unloaded my truck. Set up camp. Did the usual walk around to see if anybody had fucked with anything. Went to work and put up some more fence. Around 6PM I got my grille which I have stashed under one of my Pinion pine trees. Fired up the grille. Opened up my cooler. Ribeyes were FROZEN. 4 days later, Monday night, (I don't drive back until the day after Memorial Day, I'm not stupid)my last rib eye was still pretty much frozen. In other words my cooler was still chilling. It's all about prep. You may have the most fancy dancey cooler but it will not perform as expected without some thermodynamic knowledge. In this case, not rocket science. Chill science.

Learned something new about prepping a cooler... just thought you threw ice in and go!

So... you are building a fence on your vacation?

Unfortunately, yes. I have a 280 ft stretch to finish up. I hope to have it done Friday afternoon. I'm driving down this year right after work on Thursday. I want to do some wheeling near Great Sand Dunes Nat'l Park, Medano Pass area. Bad ass 4 wheeling. Depends on spring snow melt where you can go.

I always take my cheapy Coleman for beer. I do just throw ice into it. Beer doesn't last long. Don't care how long ice lasts. A good high end cooler properly prepped should last a week . Shade helps a lot too. And only open it when you need to. That's why I always use another cooler for beer. The beer cooler gets opened a lot. Never , ever use one cooler for food and beer (or H2O/sodas). Just sayin...........

Bad news. I thought I had Friday and Tuesday off. Apparently I didn't request Friday off. Instead of 4 days without my occasional anal, asinine , overly sarcastic "that probably pisses off a few" posts, it will be only three days. heh heh....:p

A better side shot with new shackles. I have probably 350 lbs in the bed not including topper weight.

The little town of Ft Garland, CO down in San Luis Valley. Kit Carson's last command billet. About 7 miles north west from my property (8300 ft) up in the "foot hills". This shot is looking north. Mt Lindsey in the back drop. 14'042 ft. There are 3 more 14teeners off to the left outside of this shot. Heading down tomorrow 5AM. Can't wait. :oldglory:

Did have time to have some steaks and brewskies. More pics to follow. Need to sort thru them. Need my TV/sleep fix for now. (By the way my OME suspension w/ToyTec shackle combo...........:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:)

Yeah. A big one. $300 to $400. Sh*t. There is a co-op in Alamosa where I can pick one up. Going with non-metal. Going to spend 9 days back down there from 7/2 to 7/10. Money tree needs to bear more fruit by then.

Of all the mods on @csuviper mod list, this is probably one of the easier ones.. $5 worth of 550 paracord (50ft), 10 mm deep socket w/wrench, small flat blade screw driver to pop off access covers, and a sixer

Went to DirecTV Regional Channel Operations east of Castle Rock today. One of our calibration clients. Lets just say this is not where you pay your SAT bill. From the looks of all the fixed up 4X4's in the parking lot, it must be a good place to work. (Engineer types) Couldn't take pics. There were a couple of Tundras and quite a few Rubicons. One road in, one road out. Hurricane fence topped with Constantina wire:

The SL Valley is one of the more densely irrigated parts of Colorado. Kinda surprised you don't have a brew barley/potato field right next to your property.

Actually once you get to the other side of the west bluff that I pic'd, all agro north, south, east, west. San Luis Valley is the bread basket of Colorado. Do a Google Map search of the valley. You will see what I'm talking about. Don't forget this place: http://www.coloradogators.com/

I remember looking at one a few years back in one of my ag classes, fuckin crazy that there's so much irrigation up in a mountainous desert valley ha. Probably more pivots in the valley than there are in Yuma and Weld county combined.

Like I said Zack, do a Google Map search of San Luis Valley. Plenty of pivots. Poorest county in the state, but the folks there are feeding everybody in this state and beyond. (Depends on your definition of poor. Money isn't everything.) Actually eastern CO feeds a lot of people too. As long as you have water. SO CAL still wants to suck up more of our water since they make it almost impossible to use their own water. Stupid rare fish or human survival??

Probably the poorest county cause everybody that lives there is either a farmer or works on a farm lol. Certain areas, like those along the South Platte have great water and soil to grow vegetable crops and sugar beets. Out here in Burlington without surface water it's a lot harder to do that kind of stuff.

Out of all the states in the union, California is the one that ought to be desalinizing water and pumping it inland for ag. To do that wouldn't be cheap but Cali is also the richest ag state in the country.
