Hi, the torque value is 53 ***inches*** per lb, not 53 foot/lb. I misread the chiltons once and mistook inches for foot lbs on my tranny cover bolts and broke 2 before I realized it wasn't 43 ft/lbs it was 43 in/lbs :)

LOL, when I mentioned it on 'another' tundra forum, most admitted to doing it themselves too, once, but one guy went off on a tangent about how incompetent I was and it is obvious a 10 or 12 mm bolt is not meant to be torqued that much and I should get rid of my tools and hire a 'real' mechanic. He was either in a bad mood or I wronged him in another lifetime somehow hahaha

I did it first time I swapped spark plugs. I thought it seemed like a lot for a spark plug but was lucky enough to realize on the first plug and the threads didn't strip.

I figured it out (that I misunderstood) after I was finished with the job and went back and read the manual again. During the job, my gut was not jivin’ with the feel at 53 ft/lbs so I stopped and being in the zone just went by feel. After the later manual re-check I realized my mistake and was glad I kept from breaking something.

Also, I think that Valve Cover torque spec is one of the ONLY ONES in the entire manual in INCHES. Just about everything is ft pounds or the Nm. I took back the $75 Husky torque wrench and got my money back as I’ll never need it. Gone my whole life without one and nothing bad has happened.

Good catch mtntop! Hoped someone would see it. You must be a detailed person.

Just finished the initial install on a Compustar CS-6900AS on my 04'DC, doing myself saved me $500, total install time was around 4.5 hours, I was being EXTREMELY cautious and double checking voltages and outputs...If you're proficient with a digital multimeter, part contortionist, and have 4 or 5 hours free time it's really not that hard to do. I bought my system off of Walmart's site for $139.00, I'm going to be adding 2 DEI 535T window control modules in the next couple of days, it's gonna take me that long to get my sanity back from fishing wires thru the little bitty rubber door jamb grommet (Armorall is your friend, just pull them out and reinsert them when finished). Next up is replacing the Kenwood DNX-5120 Nav unit, this one took an optional bluetooth box and they discontinued them about 4 years ago, ad in a couple of Fosgate amps, and fresh Focal speakers with a JL Stealthbox and I'll be a happy guy....Oh, and I'm tinting the windows (35% all around, and 70% full ceramic on the front). This will be my first time tinting in about 28 years, hopefully I'll remember all the tricks I learned way back when...

If anyone needs the wiring schematic I can get you a link to the site that had the best info.....DEI (Viper) and Compustar (Firstech) both cater exclusively to dealers and installers, luckily a couple of guys shared the info, otherwise it's near impossible to find,

    Did plugs today.
    Driver's side took about 10mins
Passenger side took 45mins because two of the plugs I got off Amazon we're broke. Lol

Truck runs a bit smoother now.

The old don’t look to bad compared with mine. 3 of the 8 had some gunk up over the washer. Think the previous installer at garage didn’t tighten completely? Or, maybe contraction/expansion did its toll. Mine only had 30k miles. May start doing them every oil change as they are very cheap cost. Paid around less than $2 each for the same NGK spec you bought.

How many miles on those old ones of yours?

Anybody know what the lights on the inside bottom corners of my headlights on my 06 limited are for? I can't get them to turn on or blink and I don't know what they are for. I thought maybe running lights but maybe they're burned out?

No idea on the milage of the old plugs.
    I bought the truck used.

The plugs we're super easy to do on this truck. So much room to work under the hood. Lol

I used the 194 blue LEDs for my interior. I ran extra wire to get LEDs under the passenger dash and behind the rear seats.

I like blue LED lights. My Mercedes has them also. Looks bad ass imo.

I have been thinking of doing red LED lights inside my Tundra and my GTI. I like the night mode flavor.

So if I wanted to upgrade my fog light bulbs, which halogen 9006 would yall recommend? Piaa? Philips? Sylvania? Also thinking I want to go full yellow instead of warm white for better lighting in bad weather, the way fog lights are on rally cars.

Nice, thanks! I put "white" ones in the maps and some long ago but they're kinda blue and a little too bright for me.

Anybody install a back up camera?

Anybody know which scangauge 2 x-gauge code to use for ATF temp on an 06? It's different from my 03.taco. but all the other gauges I use seem to be working.

I really like this bumper so I went to Brite Force website and it looks like they stopped making tundra stuff.

    IMG_2996.jpg

I want this one minus the two outter bars.

Anybody try a cowl hood or a scoop?

I don't have a favorite, but I will say I have gotten 3 bank checks from a class action lawsuit against Sylvania for not lasting the warranty period..I buy mine from Advance Auto Parts, they keep track of my purchases, I replaced the headlight bulbs 3 times in less than 12 months...and thats driving on highways and local streets, not off road in a bumpy environment.

Yeah, I haven't heard much good about Sylannia. It's pretty clear they're not durable lights at all.

Wow I've run Sylvania sikverstars in all my trucks and they usually outlasted the life expectancy even with my 03 taco having the headlights always on when the engine is on. But they were 9003 of course. Not.sure if that makes any difference.
