Good concept but no xm and need internet. Im looking at getting the new alpine halo9 and selling my kenwood dnx994s. The alpine gives you the floating 9" screen

OK, I figured out the Mic issue. My son has one of these V1 units in his F150. I purchased an external car audio usb mic adapter on Amazon and hooked an external mic in. It now works great and sounds as close to factory as I have heard. So much so, that it was my hold up on joining the group buy--not any longer. I purchased on the group buy a few mins ago. If you are on fence due to mic issue, it can be fixed for 20.00 bucks or less with adapter and external mic (make sure you check mm size on mic--the last adapter I purchased was 3.5 mm but I also see 2.5 mm on some ).

Do we know if we can use the stock microphone with version 2? Also, I'm not familiar enough with the install, but it would be nice to have a small list of extras in a post so people could quickly access some of the options. ( GPS adapter, mic, camera, apps, etc.) Maybe we can make that a sticky for easy reference and continued editing. What anybody mind putting that together with some links?

One thing I noticed on my way home from work, that I don't believe is covered in this forum (unless I overlooked it), are the heated seat buttons that are on the factory climate control panel. Since those are removed with the factory climate control panel, are the heated seat controls switched to the Android interface as touch screen controls?

That would be a yes for the first gen Phoenix , they work just fine for the platinum. Should be the same for 2 gen.

So does the new one allow xm and retain stock gps antenna obviously with adapter?

For what it is worth, Phoenix emailed me back that the mic has been upgraded and works better now.

I plan on using an OBDII Y cable to be able to hook up the android headunit while still having the OBDII port available in the regular spot on my truck.

Thanks. That's disappointing. Personally, I can't even think about getting one if standard features don't work.

I would use bluetooth, as you can pair many bluetooth devices, but if you want to pair your phone and share the wifi, you can't be connected to the obd2 wifi.

So here is the funny thing happened to me. I was getting "Systems DUI's Inconsistent" error every time I was booting my HU. I couldn't get rid of it, so I started to look for the latest firmware. When I updated my system I found that now it shows Android version 7.1.1. I didn't find any difference in the system yet, but at least an error disappeared.
I ordered 2nd gen unit anyway... I hope the microphone will work better.

I asked the dealer how much to upgrade to the premium systen with navigation would be and they told me the unit was $5000. This is a hell of a lot better and a fraction of the price.

I am also thinking of doing it. My questions to andrioid support that they never answered

    1. Will it work w generation 2
    2. Why is there a remote w it
    3. Will it record the video and work as a dash cam which it says in the description

Just posted this to the facebook page but thought I would check here as well:
This is a really basic question, but how does the unit handle phone calls. I know it pairs with the phone, but....for example...If I say "ok, google, call home" what happens? Will the unit react to my voice? Will the phone react? Does the unit "talk" to the phone and push the call? What about texting with voice or having my texts read to me? I'm hoping that the messages link with chrome will work with my Pixel 2 XL. Thanks for the info. I just ordered the button version and can't wait to get see this thing shipped and eventually installed!

I believe that the HVAC issue was resolved with working with engineers the last couple months. Thats why Jodi over on the facebook page waited for the group by so the company couple work out any issues from the original headunit.

What I would do is say ok Google to my phone then call home and it would dial and operate through the HU. As for texting I just use the phone.

Interesting. Should be totally do-able, but would love to find a way to make it a little more seamless. I currently have the pioneer Android Auto set up and it has been great for hands free use. I found this but may need a guinea pig to test it. This group buy will be my first go-round. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=gb.xxy.hr

For texting, you can use Mighty text through the HU. HU requires intrneti connection to get this working..
