If you guys think Toyota will give you a new truck over this- you’re off your rockers.

I read it. I know what the damage was. The thinking of getting a new truck for this is ridiculous.

    Not nearly enough room here!
The last time I was in my Dealership's Service Center for one of my "Free Lifetime Oil Changes", I was out in the used-lot looking at a sharp Corolla S and heard a great sounding exhaust note, chirping tires, hauling-ass up the road. Looked over the minivan sitting in my way and it was my truck! I walked into the shop and told the lard-ass kid attempting to extricate himself from my truck with the door wedged against a metal pole, to get my truck out, NOW. Service Manager came prancing in and asked what the problem was, I told him I'm in here for a Oil Change/Tire Rotation and it DOESN'T require drag race road testing! Combination of a BA 10" Exhaust and my IPT Shift Kit was just too much temptation for junior! No damage done but I've never been back.Dealership Manager called a few days later and asked what he could do to make it up to me, I told him I'd let him know; that was 5 years ago. I'd rather pay my straight- shooting, trusted Mechanic his rate for work, than "free" work done by unsupervised children.

I would be upset, no doubt about it.

I had a dent in my last two trucks within the first 6 months. I had it repaired and moved on. My Tundra didn’t even leave the dealership lot before it had a dent.

Asking for a new truck, good lord.

They're just down the street from me. They can be pretty expensive. But they seem to know what they're doing.

this sounds crazy but i agree 100%. two week old rig with damage they caused? they need to give you a new truck. that's why they have insurance. if they are sanding and pounding out dents they screwed up massively

So if you backed your truck into my two week old truck, and caused a dent in my fender, I should get a new truck right? You screwed up massively. That’s why you have insurance for right?

maybe you didnt read his post. the dealer damaged a two week old truck that required sanding and body work. he didn't get into a parking lot fender bender. i would go crazy on every review site and social media site they had. so i guess you would be cool if you came to get your truck from a spray liner install and they were sanding down a fender of a 40k truck you just bought?

No I read the whole thread.

There is no difference between a parking lot oops and a dealership oops. You have this thing called the human factor. Accidents happen. Nobody sets out in the morning headed to work thinking “I wonder how many vehicles I can screw up today?”

Maybe you didn’t read my last two trucks had body damage within 6 months of ownership, one of them a 60k dollar truck with 2000 miles on it that wasn’t my fault. I had it fixed and went on with my life. Worst part is I couldn’t even have someone else pay for it. The insanity.

So yeah, I would be upset, but cool and not an asshole. It’s amazing how much better life is not living in a bubble and understanding how life just isn’t fair all the time. I’m 43 man, not an immature teenager that throws temper tantrums.

What if this happened AT the Line-x facility? Should Line-x buy the guy a new truck? What if the the OP had this new truck at the window tint guy and he banged it up? New truck time?
But because it happened at the dealer and they have a row of new Tundras he should just go take the pick of the litter.
    I don’t get it.

Getting pissed is perfectly acceptable. Handling it like a little baby is another.
    The dealer made it right.
The OP could get rear ended at the first light he comes to after purchase. New truck time!

I’m glad some people get it. Of course we all would be upset, and the service manager feels horrible.

I did work as a “porter” for a Toyota dealership when 16 yrs old. Vehicles were damaged all the time and you might be surprised it was usually salesmen going to lunch or joyrides.

I know someone in Denver/metro that has a Porsche 918. It was rear ended before the temp tags were off. It was a slight tap.

I remember him telling me this and I was shocked at how he handled it. The single mom that was struggling that just tapped his $1M Porsche that disabled her old Honda Accord. He towed it to his garage and had one of his mechanics put a used radiator in it and fix what they could for her. The bill on his car was 70k plus with depreciated value.

That’s the kind of person I want to be (not there yet with my temper). #lifegoals
