I noticed its the same wheel, just all black. I have been looking so far cant find a set for less than 1200. That's why I am looking at powder coating. If I could find a set for 800, I would snatch them up for sure. I might just buy a black set of rims if I can find some I like. Then sell the stockers.

Has anyone had wheels painted vs. Powder coating? Wondering how painted from a reputable shop would work out pricewise and with respect to durability.

Paint will not hold up with time. Crap from the road and rotating will tear up the paint. If I get them done, It will have to be powder coating. The guy that I got the quote from has done rock sliders and bumpers for me. He does great work. He said rims are expensive because he blasts them down to bare metal and them coats them. He also has a lifetime warranty on all his work. I might just do it and be done with this. I love these rims but if they were all black, even better.

I had mine painted over a year ago and am happy with it. A good friend is a pro and threw a few extra coats of clear on top.

Just washed it yesterday and they look like day I had them mounted. I agree powder coat will last longer but if they start to peel, fade or crack I’ll replace with aftermarket wheels.

I put spyder trac wheel spacers on top and like the look. Not too overstated. Can’t tell you how many people don’t realize my truck is a Tundra.

BTW I love the Barcelona Red. 0D703068-099F-46CF-BAA8-3783CDE587D1.jpg

Yep....I would just get the 2017 TRD Pro wheel...it is the exact same wheel on your Tundra but painted all black.

    You have the (P/N: 42611-0C170) wheel....TRD PRO is (P/N: 42611-0C200).

I think powder coating would be cheaper than buying new wheels? I have a quote for $400 to powder coat all 4 wheels and that includes chemical stripping them first which I guess the shop feels is necessary to get the factory black off of them before applying the topcoat.

So gloss black, semi-gloss, satin or a matte finish....decisions decisions.

The cheapest I found the wheel is 339 per wheel. Seems like powder coating is the way to go. I’m gonna wait until I’m ready to change tires.

Sorry. I didn't realize cost was a factor in going all black on these 42611-0C170 wheels. It would be cheaper to powdercoat unless you get lucky to find a set of 42611-0C200 wheels on craigslist with caps included.

I wish him good luck then at that price. He needs to be more clear on what "less than 10K miles" really is.
