@Stewie You're quite welcome Matt! Was definitely a pleasure. That was some weather we encountered! A little bit of everything with the exception of snow. And we did it all in 2wd just to make sure it's all 2wdoable. :thumbsup:Yes, there are some rocky sections, but nothing you can't handle. We passed a Honda Accord along the way! o_O We're pretty sure we found a place long enough for us all to stop and air down. Depending upon the number of ppl that show and experience level, we may break up into smaller groups. That'll help keep the rangers off our ass. If the event gets too big, they could require a permit. I personally have not had it happen, but I know ppl who have. Now for a few pics… IMG_2408.jpgFirst part of the road going around the backside of Gold Mtn. Basic rocky shelf road with a steep drop off to the right. IMG_2407.jpgRoad into Big Pine Flats. 90% of the trail looks like this. Some sections are rockier and more rutted. IMG_2406.jpgLunch stop at Big Pine Flats. This is a large area with room for a lot of trucks. However this crossroads 3N16/3N14 is a very popular place on the weekends. We probably won't be the only ones there. There is a campground across the road with bathrooms. IMG_2404.jpgThe skies opened up on us on our way back to GVL. We drove into then out of that dark cloud. Torrential downpour and hail!!!
All in all, another glorious day on the mountain.

Gonna be in Peru, isn't my plans it's the wife lol. My truck does need a little work right now too though, wouldn't be smart to hit a trail as is... but that wouldn't stop me.

I grew up in Riverside with Big Bear in sight and never drove up there to check out trails. Just to go snowboarding. Crazy huh?

I live in San Berdo county and I go to Big Bear strictly for snowboarding too. Not crazy at all. Definitely my first time hitting off roading trails lol

Not an RTT... yet. I'm definitely working towards that but I can't figure out how I'll take the thing off the rack if I need to. The one I'm closest to buying is 200 lbs. I'm worried I'll have to schedule a Tundra meet-up as a work party to move the thing-?

How do you load/ unload yours? Where/ how do you store it when it's not on the truck?

I agree with you. Mine is fairly heavy also. I lift a lot of weights just to get it on the truck.:benchpress: Haha yeah right! I normally have someone help lift it. Usually my father in law since he’s close by. Same for unloading. I have a storage shelf in my garage that I kept the tent on, but it was a pain in the a$$ getting it up there. So I keep it off to the side in the garage for now. I was thinking some kind of pully system would be nice.

I am surprised that Toyota actually made a 4wd edition of this Van, I see this one is a short-wheelbase edition. I've seen those Van internationally but never in USA. I am more surprised that there is on in USA.

So... We are meeting at 9am on Saturday. Do we have an address for where exactly we will meet up? I will be driving up in the morning, then most likely get a room so we can go to Oktoberfest that night
