Hi Everyone, recently got a 2016 Sunset Bronze SR5. Changed up some stuff as soon as I got it but came here to get new ideas and advice on how to properly modify it further. I am based 30 minutes out of Boston in the town of Tyngsboro and would be willing to check out local shops or places. I am looking to black out my truck and maybe raise it more to get bigger tires and rims. Was also wondering about aftermarket led headlights and tailights and a new grill. Dont hold on any advice or suggestion. will be posting pics of my truck soon as well!
    Thanks

Welcome from OK. A few of us have upgraded to the 2018 LED headlights. I think a couple of people are running the Spyders and Recons as well.

    Welcome aboard Hassan.
You’ll likely get a laundry list of must have’s and should do’s around here.
Some will appeal to the “mod crowd” and 4wd purists, and others to the technology crowd with their amps, LEDs, and the like. Lastly.. the “purposeful design” crowd who leaves the engineering to Toyota and avoids various lifts, offsets, rim changes, etc. They might put a Berliner and cover on.. maybe mats and alarm..etc
None of them are wrong, but we all seem to pursue one of the three... so dive into one or all and have fun with your new Tundra. Congratulations!

@Ha5593 I’m looking in the Boston area too. My factory tires are going to be needing replacing and looking to go bigger. On the fence if I’m going to get new wheels. But looking to go up a couple of inches in the front for some 33‘s(?). I’m also curious if you are in the Boston area and have had any problems with your 3.5 inch lift kit? I see the regulations saying that it’s supposed to be only 2” - not sure the math.

Let me know if you find a good place. I’ll be looking as well

Here's what I'm talking about with the crazy math of the Massachusetts lift regulations - this is beyond me. What I'd like to do is what Darth Tundra did with the 2.5 " leveling kit and 295/70/18 's on stock wheels. But I have 2 questions,

    1. I can use the Revtek 2.5" spacer lift in Massachusetts (I'm not heavy offroading in Boston, just want a more proportionate look)

    2. If I can't use the 2.5" spacer because of Mass height restrictions, can I put 295/70/18's on a 2" spacer with stock wheels without rubbing? Or does that depend on the wheel type - I'm looking for an A/T (maybe Terra Grappler G2 or similar)

    Thanks all!

    Here is Massachusetts regulations...

6.05 Maximum Combined Mechanical and Tire Lift:
"(1) The maximum mechanical lift for four-wheel drive motor vehicles shall be calculated by multiplying the wheelbase times the wheel track, and dividing the product by a safety factor of 2,200: i.e., 92 inches w/b x 58 inches w/t = 5,336/2,200 = 2 inches (maximum mechanical lift). The outside diameter of the largest tire size available from the original manufacturer as standard or optional equipment for the particular motor vehicle may also be increased up to an amount equal to the maximum mechanical lift calculated. (2) The maximum combined mechanical and tire lift shall be no greater than the sum of the maximum mechanical lift and increased tire size calculated for the particular vehicle. (3) Reconstructed motor vehicles shall be limited to the maximum combined lift allowed for the particular chassis used, in accordance with the applicable provisions of 540 CMR 6.05 (1) and (2), i.e., a vehicle having a 65-inch track, a 105-inch wheelbase, and an original manufacturer's door height of 21 inches is allowed a maximum combined lift of 4 inches above the original manufacturer's door height. Accordingly, the lower edge of the door, door edge line, or floor panel, as stipulated in the general requirements of 540 CMR 6.00, of any unladen body mounted on such chassis may not exceed 25 inches above the level surface upon which the vehicle rests. (4) In doubtful cases, or in any case where the original manufacturer's specified height is not known or available, or where a motor vehicle is assembled without using a particular body and/or chassis (i.e., homemade), the Registrar shall determine the allowable maximum height and may issue a permit authorizing the operation thereof."
