I just recently bought a set of Nitto Ridge Grapplers and SCS Ray10s for my truck and wanted to get them mounted and balanced. The local Toyota dealership said it would be around $88 for mounting and balancing the tires and $120 to pull the old tire sensors and reprogramming them ($208 total) Does this sound like a fair price or a rip off?

I'd say rip off. Take it to a local tire shop, it will be much cheaper.

I tried that and he said he'll put tires on factory wheels but doesn't touch aftermarket wheels. He said he's had to many problems with transferring the sensors and other issues.

You live in a small town with only one shop? NTB mounted my tires on my new wheels (fuel pumps) with sensors with no issues. Sound like he is lazy.

Going rate out east here is about $25 a tire to mount and balance, if you get new TPMS it's around $100 so pulling the old ones out and putting them in the wheels should be a little less but not a lot. I think you can have it done cheaper but I don't think the dealer is ripping you off either.

That's weird. My local tire guy has done it for me several times and never any issues. Plus, I don't see why they have to reprogram the sensors, it's the sensors that came in your truck, no need in a reprogram.

I just had my dealership mount and balance it was 12 bucks per tire plus a disposal fee of 5. They did a great job.

Local shop charges $16 each to mount, balance, and swap sensor from old wheel to new.

I paid $150 at my local lambs. Discount tire wanted to charge me almost $300 so I don’t even want to know what my local dealer would have charged.

I think your dealer is a little high but not necessarily a ripoff. They have to disassemble your old wheels and tires to get the tpms out, put them in the new wheels, and then mount and balance the new ones. It’s a lot of labor.

But like others have said, keep calling around. You can find a better price.
