I've been shooting Glocks since 1985, love their 21 & 41 in particular.

I find the 5.7 Tobe almost useless unless you have the blue-tip rounds, but I think they requires a special license.

My recent foray into buying handguns has left me with the impression that the hierarchy of quality (non-specialty) is as follows.
    H&K
    Sig Sauer
    FN
    Glock
    CZ
    S&W
    Colt
    Springfield
    Hi-point
    Taurus....

After I sell my Taurus and SCCY CPX1 I will be buying my girlfriend a M&P shield 9mm (her choice after shooting about 10 different CCW guns) and one in 45 for my CCW.

While not a fan of polymer (I know...old people are frustrating) I love the machining excellence and craftsmanship of the Sig Sauer line. Definitely the samarai sword of the group. I kept my mouth shut as they didn't fall under the OP category. Forgot about polymer lineup.

Lol.. Well look at you. Mr Modern. I carried a 1987 "G“ West German Sig P220 for over 20 years as my duty weapon with a P239 single stack 9mm backup. Now that I'm retired.. P226 Legion. 21 round mags.. X300. Home defense isn't an issue.
Love the 290RS as a concealed baby 9.

I have spent the last year learning what I can about ammo and have come to the conclusion that the 10mm 180/220 is the best for small/medium game hunting and defense.
    Glock20 for CCW with 180grain
    convert you G20 to a carbine http://mechtechsys.com/glock-carbine-conversion/

P.S. "useless" was the wrong way to phrase it, 5.7 is a good round but the best one is the armor piercing in a real P90 :)

I think I saw a match up with this pistol. It performed very well. People raved about it. Some subtle design differences and similarities. I would like to fire that pistol some..

It's here! Will be testing it out sometime tomorrow with several different brands of ammo to see if any of them feed and fire w/o issue. 50 rounds each isn't that much of a test, but that's plenty of rounds overall.

Came with 3 total backstraps, a gun lock, 2 mags and of course the box (no case oddly).

    Backstraps

Glock 17 vs RP 45. They'are about the same size and the grip is surprisingly small for a double stack 45.

Well, the range test went well. I ended out putting a little over 300 rounds thru it. The gun didn't have any issue with any of the Federal aluminum-cased cartridges, nor the Hornady Critical Defense rounds. One of the Remington rounds did have a failure to feed about 30 rounds in or so, which I thought was a little funny given it is a Remington gun. But they didn't have any other issues even after the gun was blazing hot. After 250 rounds or so when the gun was too hot to touch one of the steel-cased TulAmmo cartridges had a failure to feed as well. But everything else ran perfectly. I ended out burning my damn thumb near the end of the session.

    20180818_125442.jpg

I actually like the way the RP45 sits on the magnets as well. It's easier to grab than the Glock 17 and the angle doesn't get in the way of my leg either.

I was really surprised at how little recoil the gun had. It felt a lot like my 9mm Glock 17. A couple of the guys at the range were interested in it so I let them shoot it. The ones that didn't know it was a 45 thought it was a 9mm. They were all surprised by how well it shot. The trigger is real similar to the Glock as well (the stock one anyhow). I've done some work on my trigger so it's a little nicer than the RP45, but finding and firing from the trigger reset is about the same. I also actually shoot the RP45 more accurately than my Glock. I think that may have to do with the larger backstrap on the RP45. I'm able get a straighter trigger pull whereas with the glock I tend to push it a bit.

All-in-all I'm really happy with the gun and its reliability, so it's now my new truck gun.

So awesome!...it's great when you're stoked on your purchase, isn't it?
Sounds like you put it through its paces.
Smooth shooting full sized duty gun..low recoil...good trigger
I bet the hang up on the Remington UMC was just because it's low budget target rounds.
And it's already found a spot in the Tundra!

    Great review, my friend :)

For sure! As a longer term test I'll mainly use that Federal aluminum ammo to get the gun good and fouled up before cleaning it to see how well it runs as it gets dirtier. I'm planning on putting at least a few hundred more rounds thru it before cleaning/oiling it.

Right?...get it good and dirty...see if the grime starts catching the aluminum casings(not as slick like brass) with a failure to extract.
    Analyze it's tolerances.
