I just did mine. Super easy. Glad I found this forum! I too live in VA, so I just bought a spare relay to swap out at inspection time.

Are you saying that you need to ground the other leg on the bottom of the relay for a 2018 instead? The one I circled in red?

Would have to open my relay box to confirm which leg, but yeah if you check each pin of the relay box for the fog light relay you’ll see that the 12V is always there. The relay coil needs to be grounded when we want the fog lights to come on. I connected it to the headlight relay coil ground. So both relay coils are grounded when the headlights turn on, therefore turning the fog lights on too.

Just did this mod this part weekend took me all of ten minutes, most of which was spent looking for the proper spade and ring terminals. I did not put a manual toggle switch and simply hooked the relay up to a ground.

Truck is a 2014 1794 Edition Tundra and for me it works like this.

Light switch in off position - Fog lights off
Light switch in parking light position - Fog lights on
Light switch in low beam position - Fog lights on
Light switch in low beam position with high beams on - Fog lights on
Light switch in automatic with headlights off - Headlights & Fog lights off
Light switch in automatic with headlights on - Headlights & Fog lights on

This works well for me because I can have my fogs and parking lights on. Is there a way that I can have the fogs on in the automatic mode regardless of whether the low beams are activated? Basically want to have the fogs on at all times unless the switch is in the off position.

    Call it, Friendo.
First mod I did for my truck when I picked it up last December. 5 minutes if you're handy with a wire crimper.

Did this today and you're right it takes 5 minutes thanks to your detailed write up. Wish they came on with the LED DRL in Auto mode but this is good enough for me. I like having them on with high beams.

I used the method in this thread, bend the tab on the relay and ground it. Did something similar on my Tacoma and it worked for 8 years with no issues. The Tacoma mod was nicer because it allowed use of the fog light switch and the if you had them on they would be on 100% of the time no matter what the selection of headlights was, on, off, auto, parking, even off, they were like DRL almost.

Just when headlights are on and I think parking lights. So hi or low beam for sure. They do not come on with DRL

I've always disliked how the fog lights turn off when high beams are on. Cant see a good reason why. If there's other traffic they obviously get turned off. Plus high beams project so far, its nice to have some light in the foreground

Thanks Op! Went to the auto store and grabbed a Duralast relay.
    Saved one in glove box.
    Works like a charm!
Took all of 3 min to install lol.
    Loving it!!

It actually is the same. I took a dive and it works perfectly. Bought an extra relay just in case.

I too have 2018 and would love to see pics. I'm curious about exact leg you connected both on the fog relay and headlight relay. Also, what is the position of the headlight relay and what is it called on the diagram? I tried fog relay direct to ground and the fogs turned on permanently, not good. I also have a 12volt_solutions remote starter that might be causing this condition now. Hoping I can connect fog to headlight relay as the right mod for my setup.
    Thanks in advance!
