This is kind of a big deal for those of us who like to dabble in the performance tuning world. I have been hoping that this becomes a reality for a long while now... and so it has....

HPTuners just announced support for 3UR with transmission control for our trucks. This should be huge! Depending on all tables that are available, we will at least now be able to slap a blower on our trucks and go to a dyno tuner just like the LS guys. Also, you no longer have to have external piggybacks, etc to adjust tire size, shift points, tow modes etc. Most of that will be adjustable with this laptop based tuning software.

This announcement is opening a WHOLE lot of doors for engine mapping and everything we can do for performance, efficiency, fuel mileage, etc. This is the DAP tune on steroids.

If anyone wants to know what HPTuners is, here is their website.

    Both. See image.

Indeed. I'ts still in beta testing, but I am ordering some credits and gonna poke around.

Once it's out of beta testing, you should be able to go to any local tuner that does has the HPT software and get a tune flashed. Same concept will apply to this as with any other vehicle that the HPT software platform supports.

I have used HP Tuners on my LS motors. Very good stuff. I liked EFILive better, but this really opens doors for tuning even for the non-sc guys that add intakes and headers.

just placed the order for the new Bluetooth capable DLC3 unit. I'll post screen shots of the available tables once I get it and register my ECU. Super stoked about the new capability of the unit.

No error. Platform structure of ECUs changes from year to year. The electrical architecture on the vehicle had to change to support TSS, therefore different ecu.

Working on getting the screen shots now.

I guess a swap to an older ECU is in store soon since I don't have the TSS garbage

Correct, but that doesn't mean things didn't change though. Things always change, that is why they listed the model year range.

To keep everyone posted, I am currently downloading the beta version of HPT since the current full version won't support my truck.

    ---Edit---

Ended up downloading the beta version and I got some progress. HPT will read my truck, which is a huge leap forward, but won't fully connect. It is also recognizing the my VIN and engine size.

I'll be calling HPT to make sure that the beta version is supposed to connect and pull down the CAL file. Once I can pull down the cal file, I will post pics of the tables available.

Any more info on this ? I did speak with a local speed shop with a great reputation and a ton of experience with HPT and they are excited to get my truck in. I am going to have Keith @dirtydeeds build my race system with headers first though. Hopefully we can get 450HP out of a NA 5.7 with this combo.

Any more updates on this? I know a local truck here in Houston, TX got a tune on their supercharged Tundra with HP Tuners MPVI2. I don't know the numbers, but supposedly the tune went really good. I'm thinking of picking one up. Especially since the price is so reasonable before tuning cost

    Good to hear!

Yes. Very much so. With the laptop based softaware, they will be able to tune YOUR truck. Not a batch tune. Believe it or not, not all trucks are the same and one tune does not fit all. If someone tells you it does, they are either selling you an inferior product or don’t know what they are talking about.

Not updates yet. I haven’t been home in ~3 weeks. It’s been kind of terrible...

I am back now, but my truck is at the dealer. I’ll pick it up this week and give an update.

This is what I got from ProSpeed Autosports on the HP Tuners...

"Tuning went great! The HP tuners allows us to make some significant changes to the calibration. We had a truck we did for R&D with the TRD supercharger. As of right now we don’t have pricing set up yet(tuning cost) and we are currently moving into a new building. We will be doing a write up soon. Chris Delgado our tuner has more information about it."

It sounds very promising. I think I will do intake, headers, and exhaust and get the tune with them. ProSpeed Autosports is located here: 8807 Emmott Rd, Ste 500 Houston, Texas 77040

Good to hear. i am going to give them a call and maybe get some feedback on the availability of tables. If you do headers, get long tubes. With and intake and long tubes, I wouldn't be surprised if you picked up 50HP on a dyno tune. With someone who can tune the VVT-i well, the powerband should be able to be kept very broad and keep the engine breathing well through a good portion of it. My only concern would be making sure the factory fuel system can keep up. Not sure what factory size is, but I'll look them up and post it.

I talked with a local speed shop that uses the HP Tuners as well but like @jones83 I have decided to do LT headers first. I'm actually getting a full system from Keith @dirtydeeds but I need to get my cats cut off and send them to him.

Any other updates on the HPT front? I have a local shop, Majestic Motorsports, that does live dyno tuning on a lot of high end vehicles. I wanted to see if anyone has had luck with tuners having full tunability on the 5.7 yet?

My truck is stock, except for a K&N intake with an AFE Dri filter. But I know the gains that are possible on a stock vehicle with a knowledgeable tuner.

I am interested in the transmission tuning capabilities as well.

I placed a call to a local performance/speed shop that uses HP tunes software. There tuner guy was on vacation and is returning tomorrow. The shop told me he will call me when he returns. I have 17 and keeping my fingers crossed because HP’s site only goes to year model 16. I will post any information I get.

I read that it will not work for 17+ at the moment due to a change in the ECU.
