Agreed on truck lasting, just be prepared, I heard the whole wrap could take all day. I heard couple hours to all day.

Hey Mike, is that the VC 15” universal one? Looks great! Feels better than stock and good grip?

Hey Josh, yeah that's the 1. It's 15 inch and bunch of different styles. It does have a good grip and is comfortable. It's actually pretty nice for being a cover and so cheap. It's not as nice as a whole wheel replacement or even a wrap like the loncky but it is better than stock and keeps it from wearing more. Longevity I don't know, but I'm guessing somewhere down the line I will end up replacing the wheel and biting the bullet on cost.

Here's what I had my 3rd son doing today, putting him to work. Probably towing at least10,000 lbs of wet unseasoned firewood offroad, oh yeah. Unloaded like a caged animal. Already tucking them tires in and not even loaded yet. Fyi, it's not the weight it's uneven terrain, I'm parked up higher on passenger side.

Time to put a whole lotta this in there.

Whole lot of real estate there to load up.

Here he is all unhappy ready to roll, but having to wait to be all loaded up.

Off the beaten path and back into a pavement princess. Even though very unneeded I'll usually take the extra min to drop him into 4 high and low while offroad for a little bit just to keep the juices going for those midnight snow storm main break call ins.

A bunch of miles later, effortlessly up the giant mountain and a whole bunch of hills up into the nosebleed section, then backed in like it wasn't even back there to its unloading point. Stacking on pallets in the far corner of the yard with the quad and small trailer comes tomorrow. It's my 2nd full time job.

Finally got to eat around 10pm, took my 2nd smallest real son to grab some pizza.

But before I go I gotta mention this (cant say little) piece of equipment. Think it weighs about 80lbs and it's beastly. This thing is worth every single extra ounce of weight it adds. It's built incredibly solid, very durable, and beyond versatile. Anyone who does any offroad trailering or even tows anything heavy on road I highly recommend it. It's not for everyone and it's very pricey. But this thing makes towing like a dream. It eliminates all the bounce, shake, rattle, and sway off both my truck and trailer. The 10k Gen Y torsion hitch is NOT a gimmick. It works. It's like an insurance policy on my truck. Anytime you hit a bump with the truck or trailer the connected piece doesn't feel it. There's a good YouTube video online of a guy towing a horse trailer that shows it in action. Besides just making for a more comfortable tow, you can't tell me it don't help protect and add longevity to your truck's components when beating it up towing. This is that bad boy here.

It even has a nice little built in scale feature. I mean it's nothing crazy and don't tell you exactly how much tongue weight you're carrying in lbs. But if u notice the white line, unloaded it's even with the 1st triangle tip. The middle is 1500 lbs in tongue weight and where you want to be for the torsion bars in the hitch to flex at their optimal capacity giving you the most comfortable ride by allowing the hitch to flex. The bottom tip tells you're entering the realm of having too much tongue weight. It will still work just not as good as it should. You're essentially overworking and maxing it out.

    Heres unloaded trailer tongue

Heres loaded and where you want the scale to be in the area of. This will allow the hitch to work at its max potential. Again, nothing fancy but very effective.

I don't need a hitch to tell me the total weight like a weigh safe. I always have an idea of the weight I'm towing so a weigh safe, although cool, don't do anything for me. Tongue weight, however, can be very deceiving. This little built in scale ain't the .ost high tech scale but it gets the job done. I already know going in if it's much more than 10k lbs my truck ain't towing it. Not bc it can't, but bc I won't allow it to. I know manufacturers ratings will always air on the side of caution so I wouldn't worry too much exceeding 10k lbs by 1-2k. I'm more concerned about the payload in the bed and total truck gvwr over towing ratings. I'm the type of guy who gets a 10k hitch rating bc that's the suggested max for my vehicle. I'm definitely not this guy lol

But for those with huge campers or other bigger diesel trucks to tow these much higher weights and need a much higher tongue weight rest assured Gen Y also makes bigger hitches. Any questions, feel free to ask. If u bite the bullet and purchase this hitch you will love it. Anyone in the market for a hitch, u should definitely check them out. They make all different high quality stuff, from steps, to basic drop hitches, to hitch tightener, ect. I did much research before buying mine and couldn't find anyone poo pooing 1 of their products. Definitely worth checking them out imo.

Does anyone have 3x2.5x3 flush mount LEDs in their rear bumper in this location in the top pic below? I'm trying to figure out if my soon to be delivered square flush mount 3x3 BD squadrons will fit there in the same location @stefan702 mounted his s2's which are 3x2, not sure depth? Hope u don't mind me using pic for reference.Obviously the 3 inch across is not an issue, I'm questioning if the extra 1 inch of height would be a problem with the plastic tabs behind the black plastic there?

Even if it's not mounted on a fellow members here truck, does anyone know for sure or ever come across a pic of anyone that has similar to squadron size lights in that location?

I'm already aware that the s2's fit there as seen in pic above. I'm also aware that the squadrons will fit in this same location to this fellow members black oaks below. Again, hope you don't mind me using pic. I think this location looks great.

I'm also curious if I'd be able to mount them in the small square section of the rear bumper between these 2 pics locations, for example moving this location a couple inches toward the license plate. I'd like to see how that would look and know if it's even possible. I noticed a metal bracket behind this spot that makes me question if it would work?

I think my first choice would have to be in the black plastic due to the salting conditions in winter where I live. I'd like to avoid cutting into any metal if possible so that the cuts don't rust, despite my assumptions that I'd get more useable light out to the sides with them mounted more toward end caps.

If anyone knows or has any pics for reference I'd greatly appreciate it. I've looked many places and am having trouble finding anyone or any pics that can answer my above questions on mounting locations. TIA to anyone who can help.

I'm thinking they will fit!! Oh just read the entire post. You will probably have to cut an inch of the metal bumper.

I'm guessing if I have to cut any part of the metal bumper I might as well cut it and mount toward the end caps so I get the most useable light as possible. I'd prefer in the black plastic but that's only if I didnt need to cut any metal to get it there. I'm guessing not only is there more light on outside, it's probably more secure in the metal end caps anyway. Do you think I can mount it in the plastic without cutting any metal, or only maybe with cutting metal? Tia

For squadron flush mounts I'm gonna say yes you'll cut into the the metal cap slightly. Enough that at least two bolts will go through it making it more secure:)

I need help and need it immediately. Want to install in next couple days. So this is my focus at moment and need some help. Any info, feedback or opinion is appreciated.

I got these today, flush mount BD amber squadrons in wide cornering.

I already have wiring to reverse and on demand switch setup. I plan to use as extra reverse lighting and hooking my trailer up late night, offroad trail light, work area, scene lighting, ect.

I need help on deciding mount location. I live in north Jersey where the road salt is brutal on metal. So I'd prefer to not cut any and paint to avoid increasing chances and progression of rusting. I'm aware I'll get the most light in corner bumper end caps and it will look good while also providing the most deterrent from theft. I think I'd be willing to sacrifice all that plus the little extra output by mounting in the black rear plastic, A) if it can be done which looks like it can with either no to minimal cutting or drilling into metal behind bumper and B) very important, does not look stupid there?

This is where u guys come in and if u got any info, advice, vote on a location I'd greatly appreciate it.

Part of me says if I'm going to drill a hole into the metal behind the black plastic to securely mount better, or have to shave a sliver off just to fit I'd might as well put toward outside endcaps and enjoy the above benefits. The other part of me says if I can get them in the black plastic and simply drill a hole or 2 into the metal bracket behind the black plastic it will deter theft and not have a huge impact on rusting where mounting in endcaps could.

So what are your votes on location? Whys and reasons are fine too. Heres a bunch of pics the best I could to give an idea of what it would look like in the black plastic. But first heres an idea of how it could look in the endcaps for comparison.

Here's another possibility I guess, however I have yet to see anyone who mounted them in this little square part and don't know if it's even possible.

Sorry for bad 2 above pics my phone battery dying and won't allow for flash at moment.
Here's what it could look like in black plastic, I took these earlier today.

Help please, I know I can count on u guys. Keep in mind it's gonna look better already installed on the other trucks than me holding it in front with my big ass beard jumping in the pics. Let me know what looks best and where you think i should mount them based on the points I brought up above. Keep in mind I need any advice asap.

    Thanks guys.

I’ve had lights mounted both places, imo those are too big to mount close. The ones mounted out in the bumper corners seemed to work better with the camera, but more importantly with the mirrors. But I’m old.

See @Vizsla comment below yours, see this is the little bit of info that can make or break me on a decision. This proves with great age comes great wisdom. This is the type of info or recommendation I'd expect from someone of your mod caliber Stefan, especially when u put some s2's in the same location I'm considering. I won't mention any names @stefan702 but somebody needs to step up their recommendations game lol.

Don't worry Viz, I'm pretty old myself, least all the hard manual labor, sports, and injuries thru the years makes me feel old. At months away from turning 40 I'm guessing I'm probably older than the majority on the site.

All jokes aside, tnx for chiming in guys, any and all help is greatly appreciated.

I have it mounted on the bumper ends not on plastic. Its too close when on plastic. It works and looks better further apart.

Much appreciate opinion and info. Yeah Im pretty sure I've seen yours, looks great. Gotta say I'm leaning that way, just not 100 yet. If I remember correctly you're about as far west coast as 1 can get. Big difference is salt and rust here though.

I think the corners would be best for optimal lighting. For rust prevention you could mask off the area and coat the raw metal with some close color matching rustoleum. It will be covered up with the plastic trim on the lights so it wouldn’t have to be a perfect match texture and color wise.

I'm sure I'd get a little better coverage on endcaps, but I have these lights in front already. No matter where I mount these I'm confident it will throw enough light far enough. There's no doubt in my mind I'd get perfectly fine light output that I'd be satisfied with still mounting in black plastic. Looks and rust concerns are pretty high up there in my book. Having them in front I'm confident I can mount anywhere and be happy with output. I'm also sure it would be better toward endcaps especially with my gen y hitch staying in always.

Any photoshop guys out there that can put these amber flush mounts in the bumper black plastic vs in the endcaps so I can see what it would look like. I just can't decide and I'm actually getting myself frustrated by going back n forth without a decision still.

Black plastic mounted below toward bottom middle so can fit.

Vs end caps mounted below about midway as well.

Also when dealing with Rigid lights, yes, they need to be placed in certain areas to work correctly. Baja Designs is a far superior product and placement will not matter. :) that is fact, not personal preference. Even saying it "works better" is personal preference!! Works better for who? Not me. I need light directly behind my hitch.

Ahhhhhh see, now we're getting somewhere. That's good info about placement That's something that I'm aware of with the bd lights that maybe many others are not aware. People can be saying endcaps based on their experiences with lights not knowing that the bd lights will throw enough light pretty much regardless of their location. I'm confident if I placed them in the black plastic the bd lights will throw plenty of useable light regardless of their position there. That's something I'm taking into consideration in my decision where others might be thinking they're useless there due to their experiences with other manufacturers. That's a good point u make. See u just helped me @stefan702
