Sorry no experience. But a buddy at work makes some beef jerky with one and it’s really good. In for answers

We have this Excalibur. Made a lot of beef jerky with it. It's a great machine. We are happy with it. The only problem we found was that the very top and bottom tray don't seem to get the same level of heat as the middle trays so we had to manually shuffle the trays when it's half way done.

I hsve a Nesco I use to dehydrate fruits and veggies. I rarely use it for jerky. IMHO jerky not only needs to be dried but actually really smoked too. I use a Little Chief smoker for jerky.

Mine is now 9 years old. Don't even remember the model #. A four tray version that still works fine. I know Nesco has more models now. Mine gets used a lot this time of year thru fall.

77C3379D-0A6B-4E72-9A99-D652EE0E4E9D.jpg Figure I would resurrect this thread since it’s been dormant for a while, here’s what my wife and I do, forget those dehydrating machines are just a mess they take forever and they’re hard to clean, we use our oven and set it down to 180 degrees, make sure that your oven goes this low or this won’t work for you 180° is the max you want to be at, go out and buy some parchment paper and spread it on a couple of racks take your fruit and cut it about a quarter inch or less thick, spread it on the parchment paper and use the top two racks in the oven and let it dehydrate for approximately 12 hours may be a little more may be a little less, we usually do this overnight, then store in air tight containers, here’s the end result, bananas, apples and assorted fruit, it is a fantastic way to do this, hope this helps

Couple of garage sale finds. Cheap enough to not be disappointed.

i tried dehydrating some peppers in the oven last year, and while it made the house smell great, kinda meh on results. Anyone have any tips about the parchment paper? Can it cover the whole tray, or should i leave a gap? Gonna try fruit leather before trying meat.
