I just bought my first Tundra this past weekend - 2018 SR5 CrewMax. I am thinking about buying Fluid Film to protect it. Just not sure how ‘easy’ this is going to be not having a lift. Seems like every YouTube video has a professional lift to get under truck.

If you’ve used Fluid Film, have you had good experiences with it, and how easy is it to apply in your driveway? Do you just use the cans? Is there anything I should not spray (i.e. exhaust components, rubber door seals)? Anything I should apply extra product?

    Thanks folks!

Welcome from Arizona. There are a few threads about fluid film on the site but I don't have a link to them. As I recall, several folks on here use it as a rust preventative. I'm sure someone will be along shortly and chime in on it as well as other alternatives.

I just did mine with Fluid Film.

I do have a vehicle lift, but as easy as it goes on, there would be little trouble doing the job with car ramps.

It took me about a half a gallon. I bought a gallon of FF thru Amazon. The order showed up with the can exploded in the box. I was able to salvage half or so. If you order from Amazon, make them put the can in a plastic bag. I can't believe the thing actually got sent thru the mail.

I purchased an under coating gun kit thru Eastwood. It came with the flexible nozzle extenders that allowed me to spray the gunk into the frame and other hard to reach places.

The job is easy, its the handling of the snotty stuff and the cleanup that is the bitch. It don't smell too good to me either. I hope its like medicine, the worse it taste the better it works. I dunno.

I use Fluid film on my boat trailer. It gets dunked into the ocean 60 +/- times a year. 15 years and all metal components look really good. I do my truck every fall except for last year (injury, couldn't do it). I do keep the spray away from exhaust components that get hot, belt/ pulleys, and alternator. Good luck with your decision.

Krown T40 works well too . I use the aresol cans. Makes it easier. Doesn't smell too bad. With a ramp or a small bit of lift you can cover just about everything. The stuff will stain a driveway for a few months. And wear clothes you can throw away or get a tyvek suit and face shield .just helps keep drips out of your eyes

Take a look at Amsoil heavy duty metal protector, I prefer it over the Fluid Film as it stays longer.
