You mean the hood bulge? That's an enclosed piece and it goes directly into the hood. You'd have to cut the hood to get air down into the engine bay and develop an intake for it.

Right behind the grill there's a double layer. Thinking about cutting 6 2 inch holes to increase air pressure under the hood. I have a hole in the air box already

I doubt you'll get much flow. They design these things in wind tunnels and I'd bet the air flows right over that bulge. Maybe YouTube has a video to show this.

    None, yet....
This. More air doesn’t always mean better. More equates to less aerodynamics, you could cause turbulamt air to feedback into the front of the radiator and cause cooling issues.

Not sure what the fascination is with folks trying to put more air into things, unless necessary. You are literally driving a giant sail through air, so more of it doesn’t exactly mean “better”.

Apologize, I didn't finish. It seems to reduce drag.

    Too many…scratch that…not done yet.
I've wondered about this same thing...Basically, how to make the hood a functional "ram-air" type hood. I've gone so far as to mount an anemometer in/around the airbox.

I have the S&B intake, where I can take off the lid to the box and/or open the a side wall. I've seen the K&N type that essentially has as shield.
But regardless of the airbox being open/filter design, the intake tubes and manifold remains the same.

As others have noted, more air does not necessarily mean better.
I've always thought that more air being available means that the engine WOULD take in more. Not necessarily true. The engine takes in what it needs.
Ram air may have some potential but only with an aftermarket MAF, down-flow mods (headers and exhaust), and a tune. Essentially where you are able to create a greater air-flow need.

Of course there are a couple of functional 'ram-air' hoods for 3rd gens, by Amerihood and RK Sport.

I'm actually a Pats fan. I just like poking fun of shenanigans like that, regardless of who did it.
