I installed those also but I don't think they are bright enough .....on my stock headlight housing I had jdm led lights and they were real good but now I tried these and don't really like the output

Did you take the black caps off the tips? They are screwed into the end. I didn’t notice when I installed mine. When I took them back off to return them I noticed it. Once they are off the output is much better. It says nothing about this in the paperwork that came with them.

The little black piece on the tip is supposed to come off.

You can, and I did at first. Depending on your lift, etc, they’ll be pretty bright to oncoming cars in the stock reflector housing. I ran it that way for a month or so, but I kept them aimed down unless I was on an empty road.
So, yes, they’ll work, and put out good light, but may be a problem for other people on the road. I didn’t get a lot of people flashing their brights at me, but it did happen. Also pretty bright if you’re behind a small car. Even with the Spyder projectors I keep them pointed down about halfway.

i have smoked spyders with Heise LEDs... overall, not impressed by the output. I heard that HIDs are a little better when working with the spyder heads though.

I came from TRD black housing and PlashLight LEDs and the difference is night and day (literally). if the spyders didn't look so cool, I would sell them immediately. if I didn't have aftermarket LED fog lights, I would be better off with stock heads.

I think they are much brighter than the stock lights. You can also get them in a 12,000lm version for a little more.

Not that I’ve noticed. LED lamps in general are much cooler than any other option.

Actually H11 I believe. It wasn’t the same as what was in the stock ones.

When you get them, look up how to switch your leveling motors over. It’s pretty easy.

Easy enough, but make sure you look at a few different resources before jumping in (watch some youtube videos, look for writeups online, etc). Could easily damage your headlight if not careful.. but it's only like 3-5 steps.

I just remember being pretty aggravated. I had the led lamps in my stock headlights, which meant I took the grill out when I put those in the first time. Then I got the Spyders, took the grill off again, found out the old lamps didn’t fit, put it all back together, ordered the right led lamps, did it all again.

Total bullshit that you have to do all that just change a headlight lamp. I can imagine having to do that in a parking lot some night on a trip, which I’ve had to do on vehicles before.

    My initial thoughts exactly.

I did the same thing: Swapped lights in stock housing, swapped housing... mine shipped with bulbs though, so that was nice... Why the hell do I have to take the whole front of the truck apart to swap bulbs!? Also, unless you have the proper tool (low profile ratchet or similar angled tool of the appropriate size) good luck setting the initial level on your lights... I feel like they made all that way more complicated than it had to be.

Mine shipped with upgrade bulbs too (for an additional charge)... but they style they sent didnt fit... They'd fit the factory housing, but not the spyders they came with... wtf? I meant to bring that up to them (pro tuning labs) but I forgot until just now.. and it's probably too late to do anything about it. Oh well..

Yeah, my gen 2 and my wife's Sequoia weren’t like that. I can understand them not worrying about it being easy to change the housing, but just to change the bulb is insane. Most people will have to do that at some point. It’s a perishable part. They should have more foresight than that. It’s kind of like a car I had in the nineties. You had to take a fender off to get to the oil filter. You think I ever changed that filter?

I have the Spyder - Black LED DRL Bar Projector Headlights on my 2013 tundra. In the process of switching out low beams to leds but has anyone or can you even switch out the bulb on the drl bar so that it is brighter without taking the light apart and breaking the seal?
