You don't need to slot the hole or do anything with the gas tank (except remove the plastic skid plate)....just follow the directions exactly and it will work with a lot of effort. I was able to do the passenger side by myself, but the drivers side required a 2nd person and a floor jack. Good luck!

Lol that bolt will not go without fab... I tried every way possible. Left it out for now. I'm wondering if it's just on the DC models.

Thanks for all the tips! We got them both installed this morning. Well, installed enough for me to focus on some more important things. I also don't think there's any way to get that last bolt in. I'll ask SDHQ later. For now, they're looking pretty sweet and they're on well enough to get me through the trip I'm about to head out on. I still couldn't get the last inside/lower bolts on on the drivers side. My gas tank was full so I'll let it run low and drop it later. It was hard enough getting the second to last ones on.

I didn’t have a 2nd person and I felt like it saved a lot of time and trouble dropping the tank some. No way I was fitting my hand let alone a wrench/socket with the tank still mounted.

I think this a double cab issue. Just looked at my parents crew max. The crew max truck body mount is right under the leaf spring. About a foot further back. That rear hole has nothing in the way on a crew max.

Yeah I love the two tone wheels. Great choice on those and my XDs have the 25 offset and I agree it’s perfect.

Time for an update on my build! Our Four Wheel Camper arrived on August 22, a long 4 months after placing the order, and we got it installed the same day. I spent the following week installing solar, an inverter, a cell booster and a battery monitor and then we hit the road for an 11-day road trip through the Pacific Northwest. Just got back yesterday.

I couldn't be happier with how it all turned out. The silver/black of the FWC looks awesome with the Titanium Icon Rebounds and the monochromatic look of the truck. The weight of the camper has leveled the truck out but it didn't sag even with 26 gallons of water, 38 gallons of gas and all of our food and stuff for the 11-day trip. I'll still need to add air bags in the back for when I have tongue weight when I tow.

Living out of this is amazingly comfortable. The interior height is 6'6" so there's plenty of head room. We slept in it all 10 nights of our trip. It has a king sized bed, a hot water heater, exterior shower, stove, sink, dual intake/exhaust fans, a 130 qt fridge/freezer, dual AGM batteries and a surprisingly cozy dinette that also turns into a bed. Build quality of the FWC is far greater than any RV or boat that I've been around. This trip was mostly on pavement and campgrounds due to the lack of primitive camping on the coast, but we're taking it into the Maze of Canyonlands later this month, and plenty of more rugged southwest locations throughout the winter.

Here are some pics from the trip and of the camper, in no particular order.

I haven’t done it yet, but I was told that a 33 wouldn’t fit in my spare slot. I want to add a 305/55/20 up there. Haven’t bought the spare wheel yet cause I’m afraid it wouldn’t fit.

Nice rig! I’m looking to do the same, coming from a well beloved and traveled, built out 09 Tacoma (which I’m struggling to give up, but just no longer comfortable).

One challenge is giving up the offroad capability of my Tacoma, so I’m really curious — did you take your rig to the Maze as you mentioned? How did it do??
