So this happened this weekend on my camping trip. Paint and clear coat are damaged. No strucher damage to fiberglass. CX topper built like a tank.
For getting it fixed you think a body shop that does paint work can fix this? Or do I need to see a shop that deals in fiberglass? I was super pissed when this happend but what done is done. At least I didn’t destroyed the topper. Still pisses me off when I walk by and see it. I just hope they can blend in new paint nicely. 97EB239D-B469-4D9C-A285-E5964FE59733.jpg

Would need a glass guy and a paint guy. You didn't lose just paint. That looks like it is gel coat.

None yet but plenty to come.
Body shop can do it but depending on where it is they will wanna sell you a full repaint since they may not feel good about burning in the blending

I know the gel coat is cracked and parts of it missing. I was hoping they could sand it down and blend in new paint and gel coat. Repainting the cap is going to be pricey. If it goes to that I might file a insurance claim but that could cost me more money in the long run to. Pissses me off this happened!

After a long day of mountain biking in the heat I wasn't thinking correctly and backed into the corner of my buddies camper. Did nothing to his camper.

Could be worse... any body shop should be able to deal with it in short order... :itllbuffout:

It might be worth talking to your cap dealer. A.R.E. will take care of that, not for free, but often times for less than what a body shop would charge. The drawback is that you'll be out of the cap for at least 3 weeks.

That is not a bad idea, my dealer is 90 miles away and don't know if they do that kind of work. I will look into that option as well.

Odds are that your dealer won't repair it, they'll return it to A.R.E. for repair, that's why it'll take so long. You should be able to email your pics to your dealer and they will get a return number from A.R.E. Your dealer should be able to forward your pics to A.R.E. and get you a quote for the cost of the repair. The nice thing is that the return number is kind of open ended, meaning that you can have it sent back to A.R.E. at your convenience.
