It appears to be a protective sticker or film. I can't tell if it was originally clear or painted the same color as my truck. It looks awful and I want to replace it. My guess is the paint underneath is in better condition then the surrounding stuff. Is there a part # for it?

    Thanks for the help,

It was a clear sticker to protect against stone chips from the front wheels.
I had the same on my Tacoma - once it is cracked like that it is very difficult to remove. I ended up masking around it and painting a rubber (bedliner type) coat over it.
However, it is probably not impossible to remove and replace; I just did not want to go through the effort at the time since my truck was 15 years old.

    Lost track after #1.
That seems like a weird location for a protection sticker. You'd think it would at least cover the entire area, especially where debris is going to get kicked up from the tire onto it.

Can always try the hair dryer heat and remove method. The heat softening the glue, slowly peeling back. There have been some "erasure" wheels mentioned, drill attachments that buff off some things like this, maybe more of the leftover glue.

Goof Off should remove it. Safe to use on most painted surfaces (except latex) for removal of stickers.

This is a good idea. Buy the big box spray liner and paint right over it.

If I get the old one off, is there a clear protective sticker to reapply?

Wouldn't the spray liner be black?

    Thanks for the replies

I am sure you can find a replacement sticker - contact your dealer's parts department. There are also links here on the site to dealers who sell through here. @Roman might have a part number for you.
Also, yes, the spray liner is black. I was okay with it at the time. You can probably spray a color over that, but at that point I would recommend removing the old and replace with new.

The old paint protection film can be removed with steam or a heat gun. What’s underneath? Paint. The 3m ppf is easy to work with, and it’s no problem to make a paper template and cut out a new chip guard. Application of new is done with 4-5 drops of baby shampoo in a 28 oz spray bottle of water and a small squeege. Check out youtube.

I can get you a replacement. Is it driver's or passenger's side? Do you have a step side Tundra?
