Hello All, I’m currently sitting in a parking lot broke down. My 2018 CM 4.6 went in limp mode, engine, traction and alert lights came on flashing. The notification says Pre Collision System Malfunction- visit you dealer. Truck won’t shift, running very poor and stuck here waiting for the tow over an hour. This sucks. Tried cleaning the sensors and making sure all fuses are seated and good and it didn’t solve anything. I will update when I find out what’s going on.

Dang. That sucks. Hopefully they can get all the bugs out of these systems. I have an 18. No issues with pre collision yet.

I’m really thinking 14-17’ Tundras are going up in value by the minute.

People want the tech, but when given, they need to remember reliability factors.

@Bigjoe7757, is the sensor clean and free of bugs or is it damaged from what you can see?

Sensors look fine, no damage or anything. I cleaned the windshield and emblem sensor thinking that may help but no luck

Well you did what I would have done.

Keep us informed on what the fix is please. This is frustrating for sure.

No worries, just tell them you'll be posting on here and FB about what a POS the overall TSS is while you're waiting.

Don’t worry, I’m usually a pretty calm guy but I left there in a fit, I asked for a car to use and they said no problem I could rent a car from enterprise and they would just bill them. Ok so I ask enterprise what they have and they have nothing but small cars. I’m 6’7”, that wasn’t happening and then they wanted all my personal info, work, home, insurance everything including a credit card. I told them to get the dealerships info I’m not giving anything. I was not happy and just told them to shove the car and left.

They don’t have dealer demos? If I was the manager, you would go get a demo Tundra, and pray the same thing didn’t happen again.

    Damn. 6’7”!!

How big of a boy are yah? Lol

Dang, thats a bummer. Sorry to hear that.

I wonder if a battery disconnect could of done something. Hopefully your truck is ready to drive again soon and you wont have to deal with any rental car places.

Why would the collision sensor put the truck in limp mode? That is weak.

There’s a bunch of stuff that can put you in limp mode.

Yea limp mode, first time I ever had that. It’s was crazy, truck was running really bad, almost like miss firing and the transmission was bucking and wouldn’t go over 35mph. I’m a huge Toyota guy but this troubles me. I’m leaving for vacation on Monday so hopefully they repair it before then. Glad it didn’t happen on the road.

My Tundra went in for a similar issue with less than 300 miles on it.Pre-collision and radar cruise control lights came on briefly. They stated that they "could not duplicate" but it has not happened again.I wonder if they might have done some type of software update anyway and kept it "confidential".

Even if the sensor is bad it should be able to be bypassed not shut the whole truck down.. .
I say thanks but no thanks to all this new tech bullshit.

Sorry to hear this Big Joe. I think Ron, @Watt maker, might be on to something with the chewed wire thought. I might regret mentioning this but sometimes you can discharge a capacitor by disconnecting the battery and shorting the hot and ground together WHILE DISCONNECTED FROM THE BATTERY.

Don’t think it the TSS system. My sensor and harness went bad and got replaced. Never went into limp mode when it was malfunctioning.

Never had an issue with rodents on any of my other cars, I park in my driveway or garage. I had a 15 Tacoma and 16 4Runner and only problem I had was a o2 sensor failure on the Tacoma but I could still drive it and it was fixed and never had another issues.

Just called the dealership and they said the tech looked at it last night and been working on it this morning. The representative didn’t have any feedback yet from the tech but then the more I spoke to him he told me the truck has all kinds of “codes and miss fires” told me there is no way I will be getting it back today and depending on what may have to be ordered could be a few days.

Well Monday and Tuesday have come and pretty much gone, still no word on the issue. When I spoke to the dealership they said they are still trying to figure it out. I picked up a rental yesterday, they gave me a Yukon XL, I don’t like it at all.
