Holster, ammo, training, and a decent set of sights since the plastic ones break off easily.

    That’s it

Yeah, I have a very small screwdriver ratchet set that fits the screw fine, but the exterior is too thick to fit on the back of the slide to unscrew the factory front sight screw.

the best mod you can do to any and all firearms is to take a training class and actually fire your weapon with your equipment.

find a local gun club or ask your gun shop for places that offer shooting classes.

as simple humans we tend to watch a movie and believe that we can run and gun just like they do. reality is that we suck and until real world stressors come into play you will never know how you will react.

look for places that hold idpa or ipsc or uspsa matches and go watch one and ask to join in. you will be very surprised at how much you learn. you dont have to become a grand master but competing to establish the skills and proficiency in the art of safely using a firearm are a must.

a mere timer as a stressor is huge. reactive targets and actual moving targets are all great trainers. duelling trees are as close as you come to a real gunfight with live ammo.

stay safe n happy shooting. never point that thing at anything you are not prepared to destroy!

Hello, my friend! When I decided to buy a firearm, I only had a choice between different models of the Glock pistol. I didn 't even consider other options . Because while serving in the army, I handled the Desert Eagle and realized that such heavy pistols are not suitable for everyone. So I had a glock 45 vs 19 dispute. And what do you think I chose? Of course 45. Because I really like elongated handles. With it, I feel the gun much better and can handle it comfortably. Isn't it the same with you?

Hard for me to wrap my head around all the shot you guys feel you need to do to a Glock. Load the fucking thing and shoot it.

I have no idea why you would screw with the trigger, stipple the grip, put on extended releases. Truly. Load it. Shoot it. Get good with it. They are a foolproof platform. I’ve put thousands of rounds through them and taught countless others to do the same.

Take as much training as you can stand and afford. Many people are taught to shoot wrong from the beginning and bad habits are hard to break.

I say trigger. I'm not a glock owner pretty much because of that, and just not a striker fire kinda guy either.

I agree; the Glock 45 feels more balanced than the 19 and the shorter frame (than the 17) make it much easier to conceal. Also, for those that are unaware, the 45 also comes w/a match grade barrel and a couple of other (upgrade features)...

Now that's just silly. Or, yes!, sell it to me. I'm gonna need a tundra deal though to justify adding it to the 4 I have.

Night sights, good holster, training should be to start.

I carry IWB (inside the waistband) kydex only and have for years. It isn't for everyone, but I prefer it for superior concealability in warm weather attire. I don't carry in outside the waistband holsters anymore as they got to feel too limiting to what clothes I can comfortably conceal in. I don't do soft IWB soft holsters because they cannot really let you safely re-holster the gun in a high stress moment while it's on your waist. The belt compresses the holster once you draw, preventing you from slipping the gun back in without sticking fingers in front of the muzzle to open the holster back up. To re-holster safely after you've handled some business you have to take the time to pull most of them off your belt and bring the holster into the gun in front of you and then slip the whole rig back into your belt. With Kydex rigs there's just a little more practice and technique and you can safely re-holster with the thing on your hip as easily as an outside the waistband rig.

I prefer single clip inside the waistband kydex holsters that are quality built but that don't have a ton of elaborate features, such as concealment express. Single clip, Easy on, easy off in a few seconds. I don't like having to loosen my belt a lot or adjust a bunch of little things every time I take it off or on.

Blazer Brass is one of my Go to 9mm range rounds. Fiocchi is better but not as common, I prefer to run it in my 9mm 1911s that will have difficulty cycling with certain kinds of ammo.

If I take a pistol to the range that I am not carrying on me I just have a few different sizes of soft pistol rugs that are about 10 or 15 bucks each. I keep it simple. I can fit a few different pistols each in their own rug into a back pack without cases taking up all that room and still have room for ammo and magazines. Other people have range hard cases with multiple spots for different pistols or will bring pistols in hard cases. The day I purchase a pistol is the last time I really ever use the hard case. It goes in a closet and the pistol gets transported in a holster on me or in the soft rugs.

Glocks need a lot of mods to run nicely, luckily there's a whole bunch of aftermarket parts. Id first look into a trigger upgrade then, a grip upgrade. Lastly, an optic. Red dots are not the future, they're the now, get one.

I think a highly modded Glock is often a step backward in reliability, safety, and/or longevity.

Take all that money in mods and spend it on ball ammo and range fees, and you’ll be much better off with a factory Glock than the guy who modded his out with sights, a trigger, mag release, etc and doesn’t train as much.

It ain’t the gun that needs the mods; it’s the shooter who needs the hours.

    Respectfully opinionating...

Glocks shoot fine until you start f^&ng w/them. It's not as smooth and "sweet" as let's say shooting a Wilson Combat, but the Glock ain't $4,000 either. Plus, all those high end guns become very temperamental about what load you're running through them to function right, anything other than premium ammo results in malfunctions!

PS>>> grips and sights aren't mods; just accessories!!

The training can't be overlooked at all. What Im suggesting is on top of the training.

Then we go back to reliability. The only reason to buy a Glock is reliability. If modding a Glock is going to make it unreliable then why would you ever buy one. The gun has a boxy uncomfortable feel and the trigger is not nice at all, but if I address these issues the reliability goes down?

What Ive had great success running is Walther. I have a PPQ M2 with a red dot. Great for competitions, home defense, the ranch, open carry and I can comfortably put 500 rds through it in 1 range session. For concealed carry I used to run a Walther, but switched over to a P365 for sheer overall superiority.

    Probably already been mentioned, but....
    1) Safe place to store it that is lockable and secured
    2) Lots of ammo (ammoseek, cheaperThanDirt, and PalmettoStateArmory are my go tos)
    3) Range time (Practice, Practice, and more Practice)

Mod as needed but reference #3 above for optimal results

Well said. I run a light on one and night sights on the others. Honestly, night sights to me say you may not have properly identified your target. I'm sure someone will correct me. However, they are not the smoothest, and you better train or you will pull them and limp them all day. But, they don't need really anything to be reliable and effective.

    Lots of shenanigans.
I’ll be honest, I didn’t read any of the comments sorry if I’m double tapping some of this. This is my G19 G4 that is my EDC. Obviously, I added a lot of shit so most of this is user dependent but I would define the below as bare minimums. Like I said it’s my opinion so I’m sure lots of people would disagree with me which is fine! Everyone is entitled to their own opinion! :)

-IWB holster (I really like Tier1)
    - range ammo (cheap, use steel/reloaded to save money. It’ll shoot more ‘dirty’ but it’s a Glock so it’ll handle it fine.) I prefer to use Hornady critical defense as my EDC
    - Night sights. I have used a lot but I believe these have ameriglo. IMO I think they’re all the same, just personal preference on what you use.
    - .25$ trigger job. YouTube it, it’s super easy and low threat. I recommend using a dremel but if you don’t have one you can most definitely do it by hand
    - some sort of light. I have used every company in the moon. I really like surefire and o-light. Both have pros and cons. Do your research to figure out what you like.

Never had a reliability issue with a factory or modded Glock. Trigger is fine as you get used to it. It’s no 1911 crisp trigger, but I have never had issues putting rounds on target.

Funny, the absolute most unreliable gun I have ever owned was a high end Kimber 1911 .45 ACP. I sent that gun back to Kimber 4 times and still had failure to feed at least once per magazine. After that I went to a Desert Eagle 1911. Surprisingly even a better trigger than guns double it’s price range. Nice weapons, but I went back to something lighter, reliable, and affordable. A Wilson combat would be nice.

    Guns I would even consider:

    Glock
SIG (if it’s been out for a while)
    CZ
    XDm

If I could get my wife to sell her Sig 938, I would get her a Glock 43X.

Not for this guy. I’ve shot a few and they are nice weapons. FN makes a nice weapon as well. That wasn’t on the list either.
