While the bench seat has it's appeal, if it comes down to buckets and the 38 gal tank or bench and the smaller tank, I'll definitely take the buckets and the 38 gal tank.

I think the center console storage area is almost comically big, but I'm ok with that. I consider the center console storage in my Tacoma to be fairly large, and I have it nearly full at times. I'd make good use of the Tundra center console storage, and I like that it's large enough I could actually fit some sort of storage organization system in there. In general, I tend to keep a lot of things in my truck full time.

The wasted space I was referring to is in front of the center console storage, around the transmission selector. I just feel like there's a whole lot of space there that's kind of a waste.

Plenty of room to store a wallet, cellphone and a Pepsi with that cup holder. I bought the center console storage tray off Amazon for all my pens, sunglasses clean kit etc up top. Down below I keep, leatherman, TP, bug spray and small tool kit and still have plenty of room for anything else, I think you’d be surprised how much space is in there. Plus, there’s a small side storage to the left of the shift know that’ll fit other crap too. I know I’m singing the SR5 upgrade pkg here but I really think you’ll be happy with it than not from the comments you’ve shared.

For those of you that tested a Sport vs. the SR5/Limited/Platinum, did you notice a difference in ride? I am looking at getting the Sport shocks over my Platinum's. I have upgraded the sway bars already too.

I tested the TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road and Limited. It was only the typical around the block test drive, so I did not notice much difference, even with the wheel difference (65/18 vs 55/20). I ended up choosing the Sport but it was not based on better ride.

My friends, friend got a Platinum around the same time as me and I remember him saying he went thru and got all the Sport suspension. I ask him, because I found a hell of a deal on FB for it, and he said his buddy loves the ride compared to stock now. Might be worth a shot.

Curious about the ride between the SR5, TRD O/R, and TRD Sport as well.

I'm hoping to test drive all three this weekend.

My truck has the TRD package as well as several other "add on" packages - tow package, larger tank and some other minor extras. I don't know how the packages combine but if the TRD was needed to get those extras then it might be worth it as opposed to paying extra for a higher trim package.

TRD Sport is only available on the SR5. It comes with all SR5 upgrade packages (larger tank, navigation etc.)
TRD Off-Road can be added to any trim level, i.e. you can get a SR5, Limited or 1794 with TRD Off-Road added, which will include mostly suspension & skid plates upgrades.

I went from a Tacoma Access Cab to the Tundra Double Cab, and I'm with you, there is a ton of room in the back seat of the double cab. The crewmax is too much room in the back seat.

I have to agree, it is almost silly big. But my son is 6'4" and my daughter is about 5'-10 and still growing, so it is awesome to have the room, especially on road trips when they have all kinds of stuff with them to keep busy.

I found that the Tundra double cab is the same interior, or close, to the Tacoma double cab. Definitely more room than the Tacoma double cab.

    SOMEONE HIT THAT MAN!!!

CM is not too big.... it is too ...awesome.

I got to use the back of my CM as an office during travel. It was very nice to have that space.

I was originally going to get an sr5 but when I started looking I saw that some places had deals on the try off-road that was the same price as what Toyota says the msrp on an sr5 was so I went with the the trd off-road

And the sr5’s I was considering had the upgrade package with the center console bigger fuel tank etc. now when I left it ya the trd suspension will be gone but I still get the upgrades plus a selling point when I do sell it that it’s the trd off-road (oh em gee) lol but I was in the same boat as you

There is definitely benefit in having factory color matched trim. My sparks bumper ends don’t quite match and I’ll be spending $500 to have them painted locally since it bugs me.

For leather based on what I’ve seen in pics I’d have no problem
    going with katzkins.

Of course for 18 and sr5 costs what a limited did in 17.

I was amazed I first thought about a tundra about a years year and a half ago didn’t end up getting one then but when I did and started looking again I couldn’t believe it the prices just keep going up. They add all this unnneed bullshit and then jack the price.

I’m guessing the increase is for the safety sense parts. I like my ‘17s rear traffic alert but the rest they can keep.

After having test drove back to back, my observations were the TRD suspension felt just the slightest bit more firm. The SR5 non-TRD may have rode just the slightest bit nicer.

I do like the wheels of the TRD O/R a lot, but I can buy someone's take-offs if I really want to. I was under both trucks; the factory skid plates don't really seem all that impressive. So it seems like by going TRD O/R I'm mostly paying for the wheels and LED headlights. I do sort of wonder if the TRD suspension may last longer too.

How are the LED headlights compared to the standard? Haven't gotten to try one after dark.

The LED headights are awesome. If I had a regular SR5 the LEDs would probably be the first mod I would do. Not that the standard lights won't do the job; they have been using incandescents for 100 years, but the LEDs sure are nice.

that is a known issue with Toyota TRD series (Tacoma, tundra, 4runner)

if you do any type of lift, suspension mods, etc. down the road its always better to go with the SR5 and save the money for the mods.

cause 99% of the time, the TRD bits will usually get pulled and thrown aside for the good parts that you will add 3rd party.

I'm in starting phase of getting first Tundra. Just curious is the TRD package is worth the extra cost. I plan on going with crewmax 4x4. After I find one, I plan to get a leveling kit, tires and rims. Don't plan on doing any aggressive offroading. I found some new 4x4 without the TRD package and are way cheaper.

Based off what you’re saying, I’d skip getting it. I don’t do any serious off-roading either but I do like the added benefits of the package when going on my hunting and fishing expeditions. I like the look of the rims, and I’m a fan of the Michelin’s LXTs that are apart of the package.

My wife and I test drove a couple of different models before going with the TRD Sport package. I don't have any plans to modify my truck for offroad fun, so it will see mostly road use. The TRD rear sway bar absolutely helps keep the truck level in hard cornering. We took an XSP through a hard turn, and I had to grab the "Oh Shit" handle because of the body roll. The Sport makes the turn without the drama. The 38 Gal tank is nice, until you drop almost $100 to fill the truck. I can see that the SR5 would be the way to go if I had extravagant plans for suspension stuff.
