    Truck is a 2005 Tundra, 2wd 4.0L 6spd manual, SR5 Access Cab.

I decided to replace the transmission output shaft seal while I had everything apart for clutch replacement. I slipped the new seal over the drive shaft to make sure it was the right fit - no problem.

However after removing the original seal I found the new seal - National 710345 - was too big. Rough caliper measurement indicated the original was around 2.5" housing (after it was removed - but measured the same all the way around) and the National is over 2.6". The old seal will completely nest inside the new one.

Visited local Napa, Advance, O'Reilly and even Autozone... all are listing the 710345. The Autozone guy actually spent the most time helping me look up alternates - 2004 models, cross referenced models, etc. Old seal was marked "NOK" and "XH0122E" but I'm not able to find a cross for it. ETA: We tried XHo122E as well but that XH number may not be related to actual NOK number at all.

I looked at the truck's door plate and expected to see RA60 reference but it shows "R560". I cannot find a reference for this transmission code. Truck has an Indiana/October 2004 build date on door plate.

Anyone run into this type of issue? Am I missing something obvious or asking for the wrong part?

Toyota's recommended replacement part no. is 90311-45033. Tomorrow I'll call and see if one's in town.

New clutch and flywheel were already installed before I ran into this issue. The Aisin clutch kit came with a pilot bearing but there was no pilot bearing or input shaft extension for a pilot bearing.

Thanks for looking. I'll update with any new findings.

Here's the friction plate at 185k - I was only getting some squeaking on clutch pedal press due to the now-dry fork pivot. Decided to replace everything while it was apart - flywheel, clutch kit, master and slave cylinders and gorram output shaft seal.

Problem is resolved: The Toyota seal (part no 90311-45033) was correct for my transmission. The part recommended by Rock Auto, Napa, et al. (National 710345) was indeed oversized.

Old seal on top (XH0122E), new seal on bottom (XH0122F) New seal appears to have 3rd lip.

Glad it was an easy solution. Next thing to work is adding a kind of budget oil pressure gauge... Coming Soon™.
