Looking to level my truck and stuff some bigger tires under her...

My 5100s just came in and reached out to a few local dealers/installers:

The best quote I got for the install and alignment was $540. Is this a fair price?

If not, does anyone know any reputable installers around the South LA/ North OC area?

Also, second setting is best to be level correct? Looking to leave the rear alone.

    Thanks for the help!

That’s pretty steep. If you’re willing to drive to Covina or Azusa I have a couple places that will do it for way less.

When I 1st had the 5100s I think I paid $180 for install/alignment from grand tire and when I had the OEM kings I paid right around $500 for front/rear install, TC uppers and alignment at Randy’s off-road

Maybe OK for California, but down here I'd expect to spend $550 or so including the parts.

I was quoted $422 for install and alignment at my local toyota dealer in new York. Gonna give a buddy a couple hundred for install and alignment .

I got the 5100s for $189 so it would be a total of $729 for parts, install, and alignment.

Get a friend with tools and a 12 pack than figure it out. $65 or so for alignment after. $450+ in your pocket. Excellent deal with an experience :headbang:

I agree with Sterlingwood. $540 seems too high. Hardest part will be finding a shop that'll let you use their coilover/strut compressor to swap out the old shocks. A local tire shop lets me use theirs for $20, but some shops may want to do it themselves for liability risk reasons and charge you $50-60 to do it. Of course, you'll need a ride to take them to the shop and back to get them compressed, but then you can finish off the install yourself and save the rest of the money.

I remember @eccracer104 mentioning a guy in San Diego if your willing to make the trek. He does a lot of work for the guys on TacomaWorld and quotes really good prices.

OP. ...a bit steep. I paid almost 5 bills for my OME install. Worth it. I had a stripped out thread on my driver's side knuckle. @LOTSOFTOYS , Jace pulled off a save. A $1500 save. I think I paid an extra $50 to have a special bolt over nighted. Jace used his own tap set to fix it. As far as buying a 12 pack to help with coilovers install? Don't recomend. I love beer but only after the job is done. Otherwise you might need Jace to fix shit . Just sayin.

I got mine done on my old truck in Portland for $300 (install + alignment). $540 seems a bit high.

I already have one of those I use for my wife's Civic, but I don't trust my own shade-tree skills to use it on Tundra coilovers. The one I use at a local tire shop is this kind:

    https://www.autobodytoolmart.com/br...m_term=1100001936486&utm_content=All Products

Well worth the $20 to keep from slipping up and shooting a spring with high energy into something or someone.

Always buy your coilovers pre assembled..makes it so much easier...

    ^ Best suggestion yet!

It’s actually very easy to do. Make friends with someone on here and you guys can knock it out in a few hours.

I do! There’s a Jason in Vista who does a ton of installs down here.

There’s another Jason closer to LA that could do this for you as well, he’s on tacomaworld. If you’d like shoot me a PM I can get you his contact info.

I still would suggest doing it yourself though. If you’re reusing your springs the hardest part would be taking them to a shop to have the springs swapped from stock to the 5100s.

Yeah, I initially tried them on the 6112s and quickly gave up. I couldn't figure out how to fit them on, either. I'm guessing a few brave and much more skilled folks on here may have used them, but I didn't feel like risking it.

They worked like a charm. I wore safety goggles, my dirt bike lid, aimed the top of the strut out the garage, and went really slow.

I had a hard time initially too. I eventually took them apart and placed the two ends into the coils and threaded them together.

I just had the 5100 adjustables added to the front and 5100 to rear with alignment in Fort Worth. Paid 0.00. My mechanic is a Toyota man. He swapped me time for chrome parts. Win/Win
