My original grille with chrome surround has been cracked and badly rock chipped since I bought the truck, and I’m not a chrome fan. Hitting a bird the other day didn’t help it out any either, and got me looking for replacement options.

I ended up ordering a Slate Grey pre-painted OEM Rock Warrior grille, since these aren’t available in Silver. Now I have 2 options:

    1. Have the grille surround painted Silver Sky by a local autobody shop.
    2. Install it as is - while I wait for it to arrive, I’ve been eyeballing photos of Slate Metallic 2nd gens trying to see how close the colour match is between the grey lower bumper valance and body colour. If they are pretty close I’m thinking it could look sharp. Can anybody chime in?
And yes, I’m bored. Out. of. my. tree. o_O

I have one on my slate crewmax the color looks the same and I like it much better than the chrome.

Damn, that looks good. And it does look pretty close to the lower bumper valance, even though the valance is matte textured finish. I'm excited to see how it looks against the silver. Will post pics when I get it installed.

Well, whoopee. My new grille that was supposed to be here on Monday is lost by the courier company! Must be easy to loose a box that small. LOL :annoyed:

Good news, my new grille arrived today. I was mistaken in calling it a RW grille, it’s actually a sport grille for 2007-2009 models. The good part with this is I didn’t need to replace the 2 steel brackets or the top filler piece with the 2009-2013 style, saving a few bucks.

The slate metalic is close in color to the lower valance, but not what you’d call a match either. I haven’t eliminated the idea of colour matching it silver, but I do think it looks decent as it is. I don’t think it gives the truck the “base model” look, something I’d rather avoid.
