Found a test from AAA in which they compared MPG and Power between regular and premium fuels. One of their test vehicles was a 5.7 Tunda. Interesting read.

I have seen ZERO hard data that shows using higher octane equaling better performance and/or MGP. Even under loads. In fact, I've seen the opposite, using too high of an octane for the CR/timing will actually decrease HP. it's slower burn, which by definition will give lower energy.

I’m fairly certain Dustin meant exactly that.

Very interesting read. I would use 87 only if I had that as an option at Costco, so 91 until I move, if I move . . .

I'm gonna do 2/3 of 85 octane and 1/3 of 91 octane next time I go to Costco to average out at 87. I'll estimate what 1/3 is based on miles traveled and truck calculated mpg on tank.

When you do a mix, would you have to swipe your costco and credit card twice?

May take more than one tank to do that. I remember making the mistake of trying E85 in my truck since it is FFV. Took it down as low as I could after filling up with that junk. Still took a few fill ups to get all that shit out of my system and get my MPG's back.

Been running 87 for 16 years and decided to run 92 octane to test the spirits due to this thread. Antidotal evidence suggests a quieter sounding smoother running engine. Nothing in the power increase. Will touch base back on MPG when tank finishes.

Yeah, that's the same outcome from me. You aren't going to get any power increase unless you modify ECU maps, and for that you would need dyno tune. I dislike any tuners that are for mass market

You cant compare gas mileage if one has 10% ethanol the other 0% ethanol. Also ethanol increases octane rating. Pure ethanol is 115 octane .

Can you provide some type of link? Have been trying to search their page, but am not on F@#kbook. I read it on their FAQ webpage, but no backup anywhere.
