    Hello all

Recently purchased a dash cam for $50 on Amazon during a sale. I figured why not. It is mini usb to cigarette lighter and I very much rather not have that hanging out in the dash or see any cables.

This is the cam I bought and it plugs from the left side. I was looking at this. Anyone has done it? Thoughts? Suggestions?

Yes it will work fine. Use an ignition controlled fuse. Like the cig lighter. Great way run it up in the headliner down apillar down to the kick panel fuse box. There you can add a fuse.

I used that Hard Wiring kit that you have there also. Only difference is that I wired mine into a Always Hot circuit. Because I use mine in Parking Mode for Surveillance. I believe it has a built in Low Voltage shutoff to protect from a Dead battery.

I was thinking of taping into the lights on headliner where the sunglasses holder is

I found ignition switched power from the overhead console. From the rear view mirror if I recall correctly. No pics needed as it's just a black wire coming out of the headliner.

If you have parking mode and intend to use it, I recommend the Vicovation Vico Power Plus. You can set it to shut off when a certain voltage is reached, when a certain temperature is reached, and/or after a certain amount of time.

At some point, car manufacturers will put a USB/12v power port behind the rear view mirror.

I did that with the wiring harness to the fuse box and also wired a radar detector with power from the mirror.. you could wire it either way.. Search for PMG's Tunny thread.
