Any way to dim the nav and radio screen besides hitting it with a big hammer?

Ive been through everything on that dam thing and I can't find a way to dim it.

Not tied to the instrument lights dimmer and its starting to piss me off. WAY too bright for country middle of the night driving.

There's a day mode off or night mode on in your display settings on the head unit. It's tied to the head lights/ parking lights (at least in an sr5).

Ok, I will go push some more buttons and see what I get.

I really don't want to have to duck tape my fat girl friends underwear to the dash to cover it while driving at night.

    Thanks

YUP!, Same here. Mysteriously appeared after setting the parking brake. Turned the truck off and then back on and Night mode stayed available and screen stayed dimmed. Let brake off. Started truck, Day Mode still showing up now and the screen was still dark.

    Will see what happens.

Be sure you hit save before you leave the screen, or the change won't take.

Shouldn't it be dimming if he's driving at night already. His headlights are on. Maybe the night mode still too bright for him.

Yes I thought so too that the screen would auto go to night mode when my lights are turned on but there is obviously something not working correctly.

I thought about it, Maybe your right, maybe its just me and the screen is just bright to me because Im not used to it but setting the parking brake trick worked to really really dim the screen.

Will be continuing to see what / if I can nail down to see what exactly is going on and if the "night mode" continues to work or not going forward without using the parking brake to turn it on.

Sounds like a software issue of some kind if its not "reading" if my lights are on or not and not switching to night mode. Still trying to figure out why this feature would also be tied to the parking brake???? You would think that there would be a light sensor in the system someplace???

I was able through Toyota to UPDATE the software in the unit so I still don't know whats going on.

I really do not want to duck tape my fat titty dancer girl friends panties to my dash to cover it. Besides, she hardly ever wears them and she mostly wears thongs. The thongs, however, are still big enough to cover the screen fortunately if I need to.

Ok, there is a way to drive with your head lights on during the DAY and have your screen in DAY mode too. Apparently my truck was set that way. DAY MODE REGARDLESS OF DAY OR NIGHT TIME. HEAD LIGHTS ON OR OFF. SCREEN IS BRIGHT

SO, during the day screen is bright with or with out head lights on. Bright at night with head lights on or off. CONSTANT DAY MODE

The function/option to elect day mode on or off only came on the screen once my parking break was set which is weird.

If I turn Day Mode OFF then the DAY MODE on off option DISAPPEARS again. If I engage the parking break, its on the screen again.

Very weird how this works and why its activated by the parking break is even weirder.

There is obviously NO PHOTO CELL to automatically determine if its day or night time or to control the bright/dim feature of the screen.

SO< if its set to dim the screen at night (head lights on) the screen is bright during the day. If I turn on my head lights on during the day, the screen goes dim and is not readable unless you put on the parking brake and turn on DAY MODE.

Yeah but we don't need our headlights on during the day we've got sweet marker lights.

Sorry to revive this dead thread. I have a problem. In the settings for display I only have contrast/brightness for general or camera. Nothing about a Day/Night mode. I've tried setting parking break. Truck on off. Looked all through the settings.

On occasion I want to drive with my "parking lights" switch forward (not all the way to headlights on). I have Spyder LED tubes and Pro Comp flares with lights. All these additional lights only come on with the parking lights forward. However I do NOT want my screen to dim like its "night mode". Any ideas?
