Doesn't jam, they attenuate the signal.

Your privacy is valuable. Disabling tracking is not about having something to hide. It is about not having info you want to share in a time where people are guilty until proven innocent and "your data" can and will be used against you if you go against the human authority figures. People are just cattle to the data brokers to be monetized. You think it is fine, but wait until your insurance rate is determined by your driving characteristics.

You can call Toyota at 1-800-331-4331 and request that they do not track your vehicle or collect personal information by giving them your VIN#. They can tell you if you have consenting Connected Services. They will tell you they are not collecting my data. But you look, the DCM signal meter is active on the head unit and the Safety Connect Button is green. What’s your trust level with the button that shows on?

I know this is a 4 year old thread but would now be a bad time to mention that unplugging the power from the radio/multimedia unit doesn’t actually erase anything? I know of a few third party companies that specialize in multimedia vehicle data extraction. They all say “deleting your phone” doesn’t actually erase the information inside, you just don’t see it in there anymore.

I have not seen a report out of a Toyota yet, however I will say the Ford Sync system does a really good job of this and it’s safe to assume all manufacturers are recording data to some extent.

Said Ford had GPS tracking of the last x miles driven (a lot) all contact phone numbers, text messages, it recoded functions like when the key was turned on, the door was opened. Very useful stuff for people doing criminal investigations.

After learning this we joke don’t ever connect your phone to any car radio/multimedia unit and if you do burn it before you sell said vehicle. Destroying the circuit board is the only way to fully erase the data.

Dude if you have a loan thru toyota financial... They are not only tracking you thru that head unit, but you probably have a repo tracker in it as well. If toyota ever wants to repo my truck, they will be looking for it in a landfill.

They would have no reason to track you unless you were doing something illegal. Sounds like you should just not do illegal shit.

The question then would be how to hide my EEG signal? Actually all I really want is for there not to be street theatre at my destination.
